Re: dyslexia and HOD high school
Hi Jenn, My oldest son who is a 12th grader has a huge outlet processing disorder. He has a big disconnect between what he thinks and getting his hand to write or type it. So while it is not dyslexia, we have had to adapt. We use Dragon Naturally and it is worth every dime. My son speaks into the he...

Re: Placing a Child with Dysgraphia
Lynn has some great advice. I also have used Dragon on the computer with my oldest son. We found this around 6th grade. He would speak into the head set and the computer would type for him. He would then go back and fix spelling and punctuation/grammar as needed. He struggled with organizing his tho...

Re: Sibling rivalry
Dear Mothermayi, We have a similar situation with my 15 yo daughter and her 17 yo brother. My daughter has always worked several grades above her age and my older son has always struggled. They have always done the same level in school. My son used to get upset about this as well. We explained to hi...

Re: Should I repeat a year?
I don't know how much more of Beyond you have left, but you could slow it down to half speed, doing one page a day while doing basics more often. Then when you start Bigger I would continue to stay at half speed, if her skills increase you could always go back to full speed but only do it 4 days ins...

Re: What's Next?
Dawn, you would just go into the next guide. At your son's age he might need to slow down in either Preparing or CtC to work on certain skills that need to be in place to build upon. Since he is hitting the guides early then this will give you some leeway if you have to go down to half pace for awhi...

Re: prayers please
Dear Nici, I had hyperemesis with my 5th pregnancy as well. I feel for you and will be lifting you up daily in prayer. My children were similar ages as yours as well. I would be in the emergency room almost 3 times a week getting IV fluid boluses usually 2 liters at a time. The only reason they let ...

Dear Carrie, What a testament you are to the healing love of Christ! That you would bless us with another wonderful sneak peak this soon after your dad's homecoming to heaven truly speaks volumes to the amazing work Christ has done and is doing in you and your family. Thank you for choosing this boo...

Re: Carrie and Julie's Dad
May God wrap you all in his arms a little tighter as you walk through this time of loss. What a blessing to know you will see your dad again. Special prayers for your mom as she navigates alone without him. Praying for extra strength and peace for you all as you lift and lean on each other.

School4Princesses, These are intended to be consumables. My oldest two did ACE Biology with the labs last year and I had them write in notebooks so I would be able to use these with my next two boys down the line. If they had to label a diagram I had them slip a page protector over it and then we'd ...

Re: HOD Preparing and Dyslexia
Tracee, I totally encourage you to keep going with HOD. My oldest son (17) has an outlet processing disorder and my youngest son (11) has dyslexia. My oldest finally hit grade level ability in Highschool, before that I always had to modify school for him. My 11yo is doing Preparing in 5th grade and ...

I am glad I was able to help! I know what you mean about glazing eyes!! My daughter did both the Nature drawing and ...

Re: MtMM, Help Please
I used this last year with a 16yo son and 14yo daughter. I would start with level 6 dictation and if he finds it too easy, you can always bump up from there. This way he can get his feet wet and figure out what dictation is and how to do it correctly. Dictation is scheduled in the Language Arts box ...

Re: Just curious who is doing REV this year?
We will be doing Rev to Rev with my 7th grade son this year. This is the second time through for me. My 2 highschoolers did it two years ago with beef ups. I like the fact of being able to do the guide as written and not have to add anything to it to make it credit worthy for HS!! This is a great gu...

Re: Wanted to share a tip in regards to keeping track of boo
I do something similar, but with a label maker. I label each book using a label maker, for instance Little Hearts has an "L"and the image of a heart on it, Bigger is a "B"and an image of a heart, CtC, RtR, R2R, MtMM and so on as the guides come out. I reinforce the label with a strip of clear packin...
