question about high school levels
I just got an email about the new highschool guide that will be published and it got me thinking (never too early to plan right?) Does anyone know if Carrie is planning to have 4 guides for the highschool years? If she does, then how would that work if my son is using CTC this year for 6th grade...d...

Have I ruined his reading and math????
All right, from a variety of things (but I will not let them be excuses!), I sporadically worked through RME and math with my 5 year old this last year. But now I have a 6 yr. old son getting ready for 1st grade and he can barely read and his math is...well, preschool level :( It is my fault,...

Re: Required NY State Paperwork
I'm from NY also and I'd be happy to share what I use (although I know there are many ways to do these). I have a hard time getting documents on here, but I could send them as an email attachment if you PM me your email address.

Re: Rod and Staff English question
If you are referring to the test answer key in the back, then you don't need to worry about them. That I know of, the tests and workbooks are not used in HOD (and really aren't needed in my opinion). We've used them both before and I found the workbooks to be almost the same work done in the student...

What levels of Dictation are in CTC and Res to Ref?
I need the next level of dictation than what is offered in Preparing, can someone tell me what levels of dictation are offered in both CTC and Res to Ref? Thanks so much!

Re: combining kids?
My ds is also going to be 11 and going into 6th grade. We have homeschooled for 2 years and only used HOD. I started my ds in Bigger when he was 9 and in 4th grade. I found it to be an ok fit for that year. But to be honest, I don't think I'd want to use it for a 6th grader (though I'm sure people h...

help w/ narration
I have a 10 year old ds in Preparing. This is our second year homeschooling (so we are still new to CM style) and the first year he has done written narrations. I'm not really sure what is considered a "good" narration and wondered if I could get some opinions on his recent one: (the box said to wri...

Little Pilgrim's Progress ok for 7 yr.old?
My ds has Little Pilgrim's Progress in his book list for DITHOR, but after a discussion about allegories at the dinner table tonight, I am now thinking of reading it aloud with both of my older children. I'd like to be able to talk about the symbolism together and use it as part of our evening devot...

Morning Bells for Mama?!?!?
Morning Bells was supposed to be part of the Bible time with my dd but I found it to be so good, we started using it for our family devotionals in the morning (minus dh because he leaves for work too early). Although it was written for children, I found the little devotionals to be so simple and yet...

Re: Am I the only one????
If this helps, remember that God's Word tells us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2 that "...requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." So don't lose heart, keep praying for th...

Re: Am I set for Preparing?
Thanks again ladies! Looks like I really am set, yeah! And mom23, I wanted to say that you replied on another post about scheduling and it was VERY helpful. Between you and Julie (and wisdom from God!), I was able to put together a mixture of the ideas and come up with a schedule that will work for ...

Re: Am I set for Preparing?
Beverett, Do we have to use a Common Place book or is a spiral notebook acceptable? Also, when I put down I had a notebook for copywork, that is actually our notebook for Poetry (my son copied the poems last year for his copywork). Does that sound right or does Preparing have copywork that is separa...

Am I set for Preparing?
I've looked through several threads and I "think" I have what I need, but I'd appreciate it if someone whose done PHFHG could verify that I am set: I have 1 very large binder with the following tabs: Independent History History Written Narrations Science Notebooking (Day 3) Science 5 Questions Scien...

Re: Scheduling Woes
Tamara, I tried to go to the site hslaunch.com to see your schedule, but it wouldn't let me see any profiles (it said they were unavailable). Is there another way to see them? Or have you posted a schedule here on the HOD website I could see? It may be just me, I'm a little technology challenged. Th...
