Re: Schedule for Jerry Muskrat

Bump :)
I checked the link in the website, but it didn't lead to the Jerry Muskrat schedule. I will need it pretty soon too. We only have 3 more days of Buster Bear :) .

Re: History in Beyond

Thank you so much for the responses! It makes me feel much better. We are on unit 29 of Little Hearts and I can't wait to start with Beyond :D . I like the suggestion of doing Beyond and Bigger a little slower, so our plan is to do 3-4 days a week year-round school. My son likes having school at hom...

History in Beyond

Hello everyone, My son is a 5 year old doing LHFHG, so we will be doing beyond for 1st grade. He is doing great in all subjects and reads very well for his age. I think I placed him very well for Little hearts, and he has grown in his history understanding, but I'm a little concerned with the histor...

Re: sigh.....

Hi, I hope you're feeling better :) . We all feel overwhelmed at times. My advice is....take a step back, maybe a week off, and go over what's working and what is not. You said that she struggles with math...How about trying a different program for math, like Teaching Textbooks. I've heard it's a gr...

Re: Please give your input for our 2012 plans

Hi Ladies... thanks for the replies!!! This is my first year homeschooling, so it's good to check if I'm the right track :) . Tina, I used "Teach your child how to read in 100 easy lessons" with my ds 5. Actually I started it when he was 4 1/2 and it took us 5 months to complete. I was a little skep...

Please give your input for our 2012 plans

Hi, I just trying to think out loud and see if we are on the right track. Here it goes. I have a 5 1/2 year old doing LHFHG. He is reading very well already, so I'm reading the Bible from the ER's until I'm able to purchase the whole set. We also read other books we get at the library. We are follow...

Re: Reading aloud issues, health concerns...help? Vent

Hi Tamara, I don't post too much, but I have been following your posts and my heart goes to you! I can imagine how hard it is to be sick and have so many responsibilities over your shoulders. I feel overwhelmed myself sometimes, working a full time job, homeschooling, breastfeeding around the clock,...

Re: A little frustrated today...help!

Hi Tina, Hope more seasoned moms chip in :D . I feel your pain though, in regards of choosing to homeschool. I have people all the time, including my family, asking me when I will put my kids in school :D . It's very easy to second guess yourself, specially when people of your circle of influence, l...

Re: Our obsession with time, vs a slow-paced child

Hand Prints On The Wall by Anonymous One day as I was picking the toys up off the floor, I noticed a small hand print on the wall beside the door. I knew that it was something that I'd seen most every day, but this time when I saw it there I wanted it to stay. Then tears welled up inside my eyes, I ...

I'm such a proud mama! Please allow me to share my joy!

My son (5) is finished with phonics and is reading the Early Readers Bible, which he is doing very well! Today he asked if he could bring his bible to church. He brought the Bible and showed to his teacher and she asked if he would read a story for the class, so she put a little chair in front of th...

Re: If you doubt dictation.....

I love dictation! I am from Brazil and studied there from preschool through high school and we always did dictation. In fact the traditional "spelling" for me was very foreign. So I'm glad I can use dictation with Hod!

Re: Super heroes - ok or bad for kids?

Yes, I like this answer! This reminds me of a funny story about my brother. My parents were pretty strict about TV etc. we didn't even have one for a long time, so my brother didn't see many cartoons. But one day my mom saw him playing in his room and he had tied on a cape and was jumping from the d...

Re: Super heroes - ok or bad for kids?

Thank you for all the responses so far.... and please keep them coming! I want to use your responses to talk about it with my husband. I agree that it is a good way to talk about good vs evil and being a young mom, sometimes I second guess myself in some issues.... so I really appreciate the input o...

Super heroes - ok or bad for kids?

Hi, I just want some insight from the moms out there. My son (5) got some superheroes from macdonalds a while ago and he has developed this almost obsession with them. My husband has let them also see some cartoons in the past and bought some Hulk toys. We have been thinking about it and decided its...
