Re: OT - Prayer Request - Homeschool/Marriage Related

Praying for you. ((Hugs)) In my 16 years together with my husband, I can relate to you and how you are feeling. Too painfully. In these tough times, just remember to be faithful to do what you are called to do as a wife, not dependant on what he is or isn't doing. God is faithful. Always. The best t...

Benjamin West is NOT boring!

At the beginning of the year, I started making a booklist for the kids to read through-out the year for story-time and reading. I let them choose which books seemed interesting to them. On the list was Benjamin West and his Cat, Grimalkin. The kids passed over that one, saying it looked "boring". No...

Re: DITHOR question

This is our first year hs'ing and my 2 olders (8 and 10) are using Bigger with the extensions. We did not use DITHOR this year because I didn't want to take on too much our first year. They are reading the books suggested, but just not doing the projects. I haven't used or seen the higher grade leve...

Re: Help! Not liking Rod & Staff English!

We started out in R&S 2 for my 8 year old this year. He, too, was pretty bored by it. So we just moved him up to R&S 3 which we were already using for his older sister. They both are being challenged by it, so no complaints that it is too easy anymore. I really like the R&S, but I love grammar, anyw...

Re: John Smith and Pocohantas Movie for Bigger

We are on this unit this week, and have been reading Pocahontas and the Strangers by Clyde Robert Bulla. We are LOVING this! Can't wait to finish the book, so we've been reading extra chapters. Then once we finish, probably on Friday, we will watch a movie I checked out from the library. It's called...

Re: Questioning myself, would like your opinion.

Academically, I think the older 2 could handle Preparing. Even though they are 2 years apart in age, they are pretty much at the same level in academics. Both read very well at higher level books. Ds is an excellent speller, however he is terrible at handwriting. Dd has wonderful handwriting and doe...

Re: Questioning myself, would like your opinion.

Thank you so much! I am still playing with my options, and thought about it. I'm actually considering 3 options, just trying to decide which one would be best. Option 1- All 3 kids in Beyond, with added LA, Math, Science for older 2. Then each year I would always add extensions as needed for the old...

Re: Questioning myself, would like your opinion.

Thank you all for your suggestions and input. I had considered putting the older 2 in Bigger, and the younger in Beyond, but I thought they would all really enjoy Beyond together. My thoughts behind putting all three of them together were so they could go through all of the history/science together....

Questioning myself, would like your opinion.

This upcoming year will be our first year homeschooling. Currently my school-age children are in third grade, second grade, and kindergarten at public school. Their ages at the start of the upcoming school year will be 10,8, and 7. We did the Singapore Math Placement test for the 2 older kids, and t...

Re: Would this work?

Thank you so much for all of your advice. I think I will try them all with Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory, and just add to it for the older ones. I appreciate your advice. :)

Would this work?

I currently have 3 children that are now in public school, but I am going to be homeschooling them after this school year. I have previously used Little Hands to Heaven and enjoyed it very much. I would like to use another HOD program. My kids will be ages 10, 8, and 7. Their grade levels respective...
