Re: Placement Chart

Just wanted to let you all know, that we've chosen LHFHG + Early Reader's Bible. I will beef up the science with extra books and we might go a bit faster through it if needed. I'll make a little science notebook for him (thank you for the idea!), so he can write as much as he wants. We'll stick with...

Re: Placement Chart

Thank you for your prayers! Your post does indeed help. It's good to know, that there is a booklist in the back of LHFHG! And the science notebook idea sounds like fun. I could do the same for the history readings as well, if he wants to. The option for spreading Beyond over 2 years sounds good as w...

Re: Placement Chart

MomtoJGJE: I've done so this year and I'm just tired of coming up with lesson plans myself. It has cost me so many evenings away from DH. I'd like something that comes in a box  Adding a bit to the program would of course not be the same, so yes, I'll consider that! I know what you all are sayi...

Re: Placement Chart

I understand what your saying but I'm not sure he'd be happy with working under his level. I've tried to hold him back before and this ended up in tears and frustration. He loves challenges, and I don't see them for him in the LHFHG samples. I wish I knew somehow who has a copy so I could read throu...

Re: Placement Chart

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. I think he'd be ready for the LA part of Beyond, and most of the other boxes, but maybe not for the Read alouds. So I'm going to try one this week, see how that goes. If that works fine I might do Beyond half speed. If it's too much (the book  )I could ...

Re: Placement Chart

Yes I was actually thinking of doing Beyond half speed, or Little Hearts (+readers and spelling) a bit faster. Thank you for warning me about Bigger, I'll go and have a look at those samples as well, as I'm not sure if he'd be ready for that next year! I don't want to hit a wall! He's doing fine wit...

Re: Placement Chart

He's only 4  He absolutely loves learning. :D I've tried to slow him down, but that didn't quite work. He almost finished his phonics, can write both capital and lowercase manuscript, can narrate well, and he's in second grade math (I won't be using Singapore as I want to keep to the rule 'If ...

Placement Chart

 It's driving me crazy. If I do exactly what it says above the placement chart (circle all that fit your child), I circled everything in the Beyond column EXCEPT age. It just makes me so nervous to place him in a program that is not 'meant for his age'. My first thought was to place my child i...

Re: Replacing books

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Indeed, the books I don't feel comfortable bit are all in the deluxe, extension or storytime section. I just wanted to be sure I would be able to use the curriculum all the way through

Re: Made up my mind

Leimarie: Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's good to know I'm not alone in this :D ForHisGlory: Thank you, that is very encouraging! It's for Him that I'm doing this, I have to keep my focus on that. Kwickimom: Wow, you have already really thought this through.... I'll keep your advice in mind;...

Made up my mind

 We're going to use HOD, and I'm not going to combine my boys, even though they're less than 2 years apart. I would have to hold back my oldest too much. I'm quite nervous how this will go, as I'd be doing 2 guides(as a newbie) with a baby due at the beginning of the schoolyear

Using emerging readers in Little Hearts

Can I use the emerging readers in Little Hearts? And then use Dithor level 2 in Beyond? My son has almost finished his phonics and skill wise could be placed in Beyond, but age wise I'd rather have him in Little Hearts. And if I'd do this, can I wait with grammar until Bigger as scheduled? I'd rathe...

Re: Replacing books

Hi, Thank you for your reply! Sorry, I totally forgot, that would indeed be helpful :P I'm thinking of Beyond for next year, but I was thinking a bit ahead e.g.: some of the books in the Bigger Hearts extension pack and in Preparing 'Aesop's Fables'. Later on in the curriculum, there would be more t...
