Thank you. So sweet of you to say. It's a small home school world, isn't it? Makes me happy.

Re: If your student is in Preparing or CTC....
Hi Katrina, My daughter is just about ready to start Preparing. She turned 9 in late November. She will be in R&S 3, Singapore 3B/4A, DITHOR 4/5. Dictation comes naturally to her and we supplement, actually, with a CM program specific to dictation and she dictates her memory verses. I hope this help...

Re: Phonics for an advanced reader????
I don't have an answer but I am really curious as my 5 1/2 year old taught herself naturally and she reads/comprehends on at least a 5th-grade level. I don't want her to miss out on phonics, but I don't know if it is worth actually "teaching" now.

Re: Considering a switch to HOD and a ?
Thank you so very much for the replies. I'm really grateful. Yes, Beyond feels like the right spot for my girls at present. I do have all of the R&S workbooks, so using those two from LHFHG would be a perfect idea. Thank you for pulling that together for me! I am so excited to order and get started....

Considering a switch to HOD and a ?
Hi :) We've been using another Christian curriculum for the last couple of years in Kinder and 1st Grade, and also thus far for 2nd grade. I am looking for something a little richer, more detailed, and Charlotte Mason-inspired all while being soundly Biblical and HOD appears to fit our needs right n...

Re: Coming Back to HOD :)
I just wanted to add that if he's just turning 7 I might also suggest Beyond. We considered Bigger for our daughter who is 7 now and will turn 8 at Thanksgiving ... so it would be for second grade ... and we feel that it is just right, but that she is still on the lower end, and she's had rigorous K...

Re: Bigger for 2nd grade ... then what to do for middle school?
Since you are doing Bigger for two years, how did you choose the Storytime books? I kept the set of nine that I ordered with Beyond ... I wonder if I could use those for the first year with Bigger and a set of nine from the Bigger Deluxe choices for the second year of Bigger. Does that make any sen...

Re: Teaching diff guides ... how do you bring kids together?
For any holiday that we will have a family get together dinner, my older 2 (and the 2 year old does her best to keep up), learn and memorize an appropriate poem to recite for our family members after our dinner. The grandparents, aunts & uncles, great grandparents and great aunts & uncles have trul...

Re: Teaching diff guides ... how do you bring kids together?
Right now I have a dd7 in Bigger and a ds5 in LHFHG. Developmentally, if I tried to include my ds into the history/science readings with my dd, he would be lost. The longer readings and older language would be over his head at this point. He still needs to grow into that. Nor would I want to hold m...

Re: Bigger for 2nd grade ... then what to do for middle school?
I think you will love doing Bigger half-speed. It has been such a perfect fit for us this year! Not to mention that HOD is such a blessing in our family! :D Since you are doing Bigger for two years, how did you choose the Storytime books? I kept the set of nine that I ordered with Beyond ... I wond...

Re: Bigger for 2nd grade ... then what to do for middle school?
Hi Erin, I use BIgger half-speed currently with my dd7. It has been a perfect fit for her! Full speed would have been a bit overwhelming for her with all the writting I think. Plus, it allows us to have more time for some of the other fun stuff. :D Last year before deciding to take Bigger at half-s...

Teaching diff guides ... how do you bring kids together?
Okay ... I'm sure you are all tiring of my seemingly endless questions about HOD. :D We've used another curriculum for K and 1 and we have been very, very happy, no complaints. This upcoming year is sort of a transition year, well, actually the next two years are for my oldest who will be in second ...

Re: Bigger for 2nd grade ... then what to do for middle school?
Thank you, mamayi. This gives me something to think about. I guess I need to think about what our days will actually look like going half speed for two years. I don't want to keep my dd back, either, and if we then sped up to full speed I guess we'd be off a bit when we started a new guide mid year ...

Re: Bigger for 2nd grade ... then what to do for middle school?
The only reason I am telling you this is because there are ways to beef up the Beyond curriculum if you feel as though it's just not enough. The History spine is fantastic in Beyond and while it is still American History it's different than Bigger. I don't know if this helps or not, but it's anothe...
