organizing non consumables for future use?

I was thinking of getting an accordion file that has a pocket for each unit. I could keep any non consumables for use later with my younger children. I know with Beyond I will copy the poem and cut it like a puzzle and laminate it. There could also be the Bible verses, spelling words on cards, any i...

Re: Bigger unit 19?

Okay thanks. Looks like I need to take a closer look. I also love how she makes them coordinate. I just thought the rotating box followed the same rotation through the days. Glad I noticed now and not later! LOL

Bigger unit 19?

I noticed in Bigger unit 19 the geography and art boxes switched days with each other. Does anyone know if any other unit does that? I was putting my daughter's checklist together and have them ready to print. I am printing generic days with the basic box already listed. They are different for day1,...

Re: Reading about history - read aloud?

That's good to know. She is a very strong reader, which is why I was considering it. I'm thinking of having her do it while I am in the kitchen working a bit. If it is a quiet day then she can read aloud to me and if not she can read to herself and we'll talk about it later. I was also thinking abou...

Reading about history - read aloud?

Would it be crazy to have my 9yo read her "Reading About History" selection to herself and then discuss it with her? Or have her reach it aloud to me? I am adding more things for my 7yo and adding my 5yo into the schedule soon and I am trying to find time for it all. What pros and cons do you see of...

Re: Ready for dictation?

Oh okay. So the spelling words and/or dictation don't go with certain weeks. That makes sense. I don't know where my brain was. LOL

Thanks!

Ready for dictation?

What if your child hasn't gone through the entire list2 spelling words in Beyond and you are ready to begin Bigger? Do you just start out with dictation if they are spelling well and understand the concept of studying the words or what? (We are working in Beyond right now and I am very pleased with ...

Re: Scheduling Bigger and LHFHG, help and advice needed!

Your boys are at the age where they might work well with incentives;-) Maybe explain to them that if they work hard and don't fool around they can earn something....extra free time, tv time, computer time, special dessert...whatever you want. You could make it elaborate and have some sort've token s...

Re: LHTH - 2yo?

Thank you both! Yes, Julie you are remembering correctly. Although I don't know *how* you remember it all with so many newbies asking questions of you! You are such a tremendous help here:) That was very helpful. I will probably go ahead and get the LHTH guide and books. I will use them eventually f...

LHTH - 2yo?

So I'm considering doing LHTH with my 4yo(5 in March) and 6yo for a few months. Probably doing some of the right side of LHFHG with my 6yo. I also have my 2.5yo girl running around. I *know* including her when possible works well and makes things run smoothly as opposed to just letting her run aroun...
