Re: Question about using RTR.
My 12 y/o has started using a talk to text app. We outline key ideas on the board, then he narrates into his app. We've mostly just played with it this summer, but our plan is to use it for written narrations this fall. His oral narrations are excellent, so it's just transferring it to written. Ther...

We'll start CTC in January, so mid-5th grade. He'll be almost 11. I plan to continue with it through 6th grade, starting RTR the beginning of 7th.

Re: Bigger or Preparing for 3rd
Bigger was an excellent 3rd grade year, for us. If you want them together (at whatever point) you would place your youngest and add extensions (if needed) for your older.

Squeezing out excess air still allows room. Give it a try.

and never did understand that they're not supposed to be able to do everything well at the beginning... until now. Is that right? Right. :D They should have the skills needed to get started and ability to learn how to do it. My ds has used HOD since mid-1st grade. We still had to chunk up th...

Re: Things aren't working; need feedback, please.
I'd go ahead and finish LH with your 7 y/o, doing it how it works for you. Then, if he/you aren't ready for Beyond, or you don't have it available, just stick with 3 Rs at his level, read him good books (you could do Beyond books that you won't be doing next year), let him listen in with the others ...

Re: 7th Grader Doesn't Want to Homeschool
Our oldest came home starting in 7th grade after being in public school K-6. Your having outside activities should help, at least a bit. Try to ease into it, validate her feelings best you can, pray with her and for her, and keep the lines of communication open. ((hugs)) I'll be praying.

Re: Just in time to get ready for school.....
Praying for you! Our oldest broke his in March, had to have a plate put in and other lovely stuff. He says the best help was a freezer pack on it. In a freezer bag he mixed one part rubbing alcohol to three parts water, sealed and taped it closed. Freeze until very cold, it won't get solid. He kept ...
