We're using Bigger and R&S 2. It takes us 15 minutes or less most days. However, we do a lot of it orally or on the whiteboard. My oldest used levels 6-8 and it usually took him around 30-45 minutes.

I wouldn't skip anything. Just work until you're ready to stop, then pick it back up when you begin again. There's no 'be done by' date with homeschooling, and certainly not with HOD. Our 8.5 y/o is doing Bigger Hearts 4 days a week. We're using the fifth day for math, reading, board games, and outside activities (4H and hand chimes, field trips, etc). We are LOVING it! We also have a college sophomore at home.
