I have not used TRL but if she if frustrated you could give her some time off from TRL and do phonics games instead (quizmo, bingo, starfall, lots of online stuff) and then pick it back up in a few days (or weeks) and she if she is ready to move fwd.

we have used draw write now and it is pretty nice. What about just letting him pick what to copy (from any book) on handwriting paper? We have done copywork on a whiteboard before too. There is also a series called Draw..then write that my son has enjoyed.

Cindy Rushton has audios and "mom to mom "radio show episodes where she explains a lot about Charlotte Mason that is an easy way you can listen while doing houseowrk or on the computer. A book I enjoyed was "When Children love to Learn"
