We attempted the wampum belt today and just could not seem to get everything to work correctly. We even tried just drawing some squares and circles on the 2nd attempt to get the idea. The 2nd one did turn out better, and we switched to a glue stick on this one. I was wondering if anyone had another ...
We like it! She doesn't use it all the time, but it is nice to have because it goes over the exact words that are in the book. On the days, I don't feel like she was really paying attention I have encouraged her to play it so that it would reinforce what we did in the book.
This is the first time we have used this book... but I do enjoy watching my daughter play with the CD :) Those days where I feel like she's not paying close attention, the CD reinforces everything we went over. My oldest daughter and younger son enjoy watching while she plays also. She doesn't play ...
I love the photo album/verse keeper. I may have to borrow that idea. :) A globe suggestion: Schoolbox and Hobby Lobby carries them here ~ I bought an inflatable globe. Looks like a beach ball, but it's a globe. It was about $8 and we can throw it back and forth and play games while learning memory v...
Marcee, Thanks for sharing that. That sounds just like our family. My girls race to see who can get up first so they begin our day, and today my oldest wanted to read Reddy Fox to her sister. It's amazing the change in your children when you find that right fit. This is our 1st year with HOD and the...
Ladies, Thank you for confirming that I was doing the right thing. :) I felt like we were on the right track, but if I wasn't ~ now would've been a good time to change our approach. I know how I am personally, if I did not get your opinion, I would worry and stress (one of my weaknesses  ) . S...
This is our first year with HOD, and my kids are loving it! :D I had tried to homeschool my oldest dc in K and 1st, and everday was a struggle (tug of war). So we went a different route for her 2nd, and I am so glad to have her back home. I love seeing her excited about working at home. With all tha...
I am not familiar with field trips in your state. I do have a book "Kids love Georgia" and it breaks down field trips by region and category. You might could get a copy for your state or something similar. It has been very helpful to me. The other idea would be to see if you have some type of homesc...
Just wanted to encourage you! It's no fun having those kind of days. I'll be praying that all these wonderful suggestions will help yours and my school days run even smoother  The only comment I can make is what I read on a blog one day. This mom had about 5 children that she HS'ed also and I ...
Thank you so much for asking this question because I was wondering the same thing. Thanks to all who answered because I thought about just putting it aside for now, but I will take another look at it also.
Mary, Just wanted to share my thoughts... I've started cursive with my 3rd grade DD this year. When I met Carrie at the conference, I expressed my concerns about starting cursive because I felt like she still needed to work on printing a little more. Carrie's adivice was that she may do better with ...
