Re: Tips to be more productive with homeschooling
First, you deserve a big ((HUG))! Second, I think you are doing fine. Every season is different. Kids learn in the day-to-day activities and conversations. Why not set a goal of starting Beyond in the fall, even if you aren't finished with Little Hearts? Use the next few months to get your house in ...

Re: get their eyes checked!
My son has a similar problem and the glasses help tremendously! It takes so much strain off the eyes. You still need to watch how much up close work he does. His eyes will become tired if he does too much up close work (reading, writing, ipod, rainbow loom). I know you are proud, but I bet his heart...

Cursive Handwriting...starting late
I am not a fan of cursive writing, but my fifth and third grade boys are wanting to learn. I know the pros and cons to cursive and I am not looking for a debate. I just want to know your ideas for teaching them, without making them feel like they are in kindergarten. So, my question is where do I be...

Re: Is Beyond then Bigger repettitive??
We also used Bigger for 2 years. I added A Beka Language and Letters & Sounds, we participated in a co-op, went on field trips, and did a unit study around Christmas. I am not OCD about getting day 1-5 done Monday-Friday. So, with all that going on it allowed us to go slow and use Bigger for two yea...

Re: Do you go to a co op?
Love! Love! Love our co-op! I don't feel the need to finish a unit per week, so I pick up where we left off the next day at home. Our co-op offers things like Karate, Ballet, Magic Tree House book club, Garden Detectives, etc. and my kids enjoy the break from our normal school day. I think you have ...

Re: Field trips
We live near the Gulf of Mexico and were able to visit the Tall Ships when in port. One of the Tall Ships was operated by a homeschooling family. It was a fun day!

Re: Help with organizing!
I think I am a curriculum hoarder! Today I cleaned it all out and it is quite freeing! I suggest you sell or give away anything you haven't used in a year or won't use next year. HOD is all I need! It took me a few years to realize it. I now have a shelf for Beyond and a shelf for Bigger. The books ...

Re: Singapore and Review
We have used Singapore for three years and I once had the same doubts. I decided to try A Beka and Horizons. Those curriculums were so jumpy (does that make sense?). They bounced around too many different concepts on one page and my children became confused. The lessons that Carrie has planned for e...

Re: I have a problem with the use of this word in a HOD book
I'm from the deep south (LA-lower Alabama) and I use this term all the time! I guess it is how you are brought up!
