Re: Placement help for an (almost ) 8yo
, I decided to go with bigger and just do something else for spelling &LA . I read it works great for some families. I cannot afford another guide since I already have to buy Little hearts for my younger one. If bigger it's not challenging enough for him (as another lady was complaining ) I will jus...

Re: Do you think HOD could work for this child? Or PS is better?
Thank you very much for your encouraging posts ! I feel so much peace now knowing I am in the right direction and I strongly feel the right thing for him is to homeschool . I am still pondering whether to buy Little hearts or hands since I feel he is not ready for any narration work yet even though ...

Re: Do you think HOD could work for this child? Or PS is better?
Well, I am not too concerned academically ,I know he is doing pretty good except maybe the place value , I keep showing him with the abacus and base ten blocks and he doesn't get it. Mostly I am concerned that he does not comprehend books andI don't mean Amelia Bedelia only which I know it's tricky....

Re: Placement help for an (almost ) 8yo
Thank you for that link . It looks like he could easily do level 3 . So how do I get to buy level 3 ? Does HOD sells a separate spelling book or do I have to buy Preparing for that ?

Placement help for an (almost ) 8yo
I have looked at the chart and my almost 8yo fits great in Preparing. However , he needs to study some American History this year. How does it work if my son is advanced in spelling ? He just started Rod &Staff spelling 3 this year and it's doing great . He writes narrations, letters to grandma and ...

Do you think HOD could work for this child? Or PS is better?
My almost 6 year old son (in Oct) has a mild language &speech delay . He puts sentences together , communicates his wants, needs although not clear and not always in a proper grammar . Not so much feelings though. He often has difficulty answering SIMPLE questions, at times from books. For ex. today...

Re: Math U See or Christian Light Math
I use both CLE and Singapore and enjoy them both. Cle is the main program and Singapore a supplement . I strongly believe that each child needs a different math program , depending on his learning style . We are all created differently. My son thrives with CLE and it shows in his standardized tests....

Re: Science in HOD guides
Thank you Carrie for your reply and link ! First I want to apologize for discussing other science options , I was not aware that there is a restriction about that
My son is only 8 but I am considering HOD for the future school years so naturally I wonder about all its components .

Treehouse, I am a French lady who a few yrs ago knew nothing about English ! I learn it so I can speak with my -then fiancée (now my husband ) . How did I do it? By studying every word I was writing him in my emails every day ! When my English became a little better , I started to read the Bible in ...

Please help with placement
I am new to these boards but I have been around reading posts and drooling over this curriculum for weeks now :D I know your rec is to look at the placement chart. So my 8yo fits in Preparing for most things but his cursive hw is still very slow. He also hates to write , like most boys . Also , we h...

Re: Science in HOD guides
Thanks Heather . Does she do Apologia by herself ? I have looked at the samples before but the experiments seem very simple ... Have to look at it again . I would like my children to be at least as the same level as they are in France. Starting in about 5th-6th grade , the science really gets rigoro...

Science in HOD guides
Hi, I am new to this board . I have researched curriculums for over 6 months now and I feel HOD is the best one for my family. I am very impressed with the guides and the reviews I read . However , I was wondering if the science part of HOD is "meaty" enough especially that our family is on the scie...
