Re: Help with Geometry please

Thank you Carrie! I had read through all of that in the HOD WH guide, and we are doing things as stated. I think many of my questions and confusion are similar to the lady's concerns in the other thread you posted a link to. I am hoping that as we move forward, all the little bumps in the road will ...

Help with Geometry please

We are using Geometry: A Guided Inquiry this year. I am having trouble figuring out how to maneuver through it. We are downloading and printing all the material each chapter (since there's no book) from the flash drive. We are watching the Intro video to each chapter, working through the text and ce...

Geometry after Foerster's Algebra?

My son will be in WH this year for 10th grade. He did Foerster's Algebra last year. Is Geometry what his next step would be? Then in the years following he would do Forester's Algebra 2 and then PreCal...correct? Just trying to make sure we have him set up right!
Thanks!

Grading in WG

I'm probably over-thinking grading, but considering this is our first year of regularly grading things (my son is in 9th grade), I want to make sure I do it right for record-keeping and transcripts. I do have the WG guide, and I have looked over the grading part. I am still a bit confused, as far as...

Skipping English 6

Ladies, I could use some advice. Below I am re-posting my question from a few weeks ago, just to help you understand the background. I will try to keep this brief! My daughter who recently turned 13 we have going in to "8th grade" in the fall. She started HOD in K with Little Hearts, so she has done...

Re: Help! 8th or 9th grade?

Rice, Thank you for your reply, that was actually quite helpful as far as giving me some things to think on and consider. It's also nice to have someone else in a similar situation! I'm still uncertain what we will do at this point. She could definitely move on the the WG's Language Arts. She is a p...

Help! 8th or 9th grade?

I will try to keep this brief! My daughter who recently turned 13 we have going in to 8th grade in the fall. She started HOD in K with Little Hearts, so she has done HOD for all her school years! Here is my current dilemma. She will be doing the World Geography guide in the fall, as she has done all...

Thank you Stephanie! Do you have personal experience using either of these math options? Hoping to hear some insight from those who have used them.

Foerster's VS VideoText Algebra

Hi ladies, I'm hoping you can help me weigh the pros and cons of Foerster's and VideoText. My son who will be in 9th grade and in the World Geography guide this year finished all Singapore math through 7th grade and in 8th grade did POM 2. I'm trying to decide which program to go with next. Could yo...

Re: Ideas to shorten the week to four day schedule

Having older kids in guides with 4 day weeks, I have shortened the 5 day guides to 4 days many times over the years. I needed that 5th day for appointments, catching up at home, etc., and I didn't want to lengthen the school year of my younger ones either...so I would often pick and choose. Some day...

Re: Finished Singapore 6A/B. What math next?

Thank you Carrie, I really appreciate you chiming in! My greatest concern with doing Principles of Mathematics 2 this year, is that my son will be bored with it. He is a kid who really needs to be challenged, and I am afraid it won't be enough of a challenge for him to keep him motivated. I looked t...
