Re: Another "School Year" Started

Sounds like you are off to a great start, Stephanie! I'm so glad you have started and are off and running with your guides and your homeschooling! Your kids are doing so well, and you can feel so good about how you manage that all. I can empathize with the 'end of an era' you are feeling. My middle ...

Re: State history

Many states look at elementary/middle school state requirements for homeschool students as having to be completed by 8th grade. So, as mentioned already, you could probably just wait until 8th grade to do the state study. Or, if you want/need to do it sooner, you could easily do that too! Here is a ...

Re: Drawing/Sketching in Bigger

I'll agree with the others that HOD can still be a great fit. My 3rd child, who is possibly gifted, definitely advanced, has never liked drawing and coloring. He avoided it even as a toddler. When we came to HOD (he was 9 and placed into CTC), he sometimes asked to skip the drawing assignments (whi...

Re: Drawing/Sketching in Bigger

Preparing Hearts for His Glory through Missions to Modern Marvels include Draw and Write Through History assignments. The directions are given one step at a time, and each step is simply sketched in pencil. The illustrations are easy to follow, and they even include pictures of the final coloring us...

Re: Please help! I need help with curriculum placement for my 3 children.

Thanks for sharing about your past year - those are some very hard things to go through! My parents had a house fire when we were little children, and it was such a challenging time. COVID certainly hasn't been easy either. I am so sorry, but you are on the other side of all of that now - praise God...

Re: Placement prep questions

Thanks for sharing about your daughters and the placement you've chosen for them! Rice had some solid and wise advice already - thanks, Rice! As she said, you would order the Bigger Hearts guide for the Emerging Reader's Set daily reading schedule and daily comprehension questions. As far as skills ...

Re: Help with finding an older post

This was such a great past post - a good reminder that when our children finish their homeschooling, free time is a reward they have earned! That's pretty motivating!

Re: New to HOD

Outstanding help here already! I hope you are getting a chance to read these amazing posts by these wonderful homeschool moms! My personal experience over the past nearly 20 years of using HOD is the open-and-go format of HOD guides makes each homeschooling moment count. There is no wasted time prep...

Re: A few questions about CTC?

I really like the balance Carrie has planned in the guides, especially in all the language arts areas. She rotates which language arts subjects are done each day, so no one day gets too heavy. Write with the Best (WWTB) is only scheduled two of the four days in CTC (days 2 and 3). The lessons are al...

Re: Sneak Peek #4: New US2 High School Guide:

Hi Murph! We are using HOD's USII and Myth of the Robber Barons together now with Riley, and it has been matching. The copyright of my USII guide is 2017. The copyright of my Myth of the Robber Barons is 2018. I checked on the HOD warehouse shelves, and these are still the copyrights. The chapters a...
