Re: Basic and Deluxe Package for PHFHG
My understanding is that the extension package is used for older students in addition to the deluxe package, not instead of. The deluxe package is scheduled as part of the daily boxes. The extension package is scheduled in the appendix for those students who need extra reading for advanced/older stu...

Re: R&S Building....worksheets?
Ah, there is an extra disposable worksheet book you can buy. Maybe those are connected to that.

Re: R&S Building....worksheets?
Hi there,
At the end of the book there are extra exercises/worksheets to reinforce lessons if one wants to use them.
HTH,
Corrie

Re: New to HOD and need help
Welcome to HOD! I think I agree with your assessment of Beyond and Bigger for your girls. The great thing about HOD is that you can do math at your own level. I just do math at my own pace which is right for my kids. I have found Singapore math very easy to just move ahead as needed. In regards to t...

Re: Struggling with my 5th grader
Hi there, I am sorry you are having a rough time. It shouldn't be like this. Do you feel like your dd is placed correctly? I am doing R&S Building Wisely with my dd who is nearly 10 and it is a meaty program. She is learning more grammar in this program than I was ever taught at school! Is it possib...

Hi there,
What I did was design my own (it took me 5 minutes) and then I just print a bunch out at a time so my daughter has them on hand when she needs them.

Re: Bigger Hearts or Preparing Hearts for His Glory
Hi there,
I would definitely lean towards Bigger Hearts and beef it up for your older 2. I would not do Preparing with such a young one. It is a big program, especially for your first year. You may need the Preparing manual just for the older dictation levels though.

Re: What to do if dictation is way too easy? and more
What level is your dd8 doing in dictation? Do you have the following year's manual so you could do an appropriate level of dictation? I started on one level and my dd found it too easy, so we just jumped to an appropriate place in the next level. You do not have to start at the beginning of the dict...

Viking Quest 1 - Raiders of the Sea
We just finished this book tonight as part of the history storytime for Preparing and oh, what a beautiful book!!! My dd now wants the rest of the series straight away so we can keep reading! I told her it will have to come as a Christmas present and she was ecstatic! Such a great story of faith and...

Re: Need help choosing curriculum for 1st time homeschooler
Hi there! I definitely agree with others. The placement chart is the best place to start and I would be more conservative in your assessments. HOD has meaty programs and it requires a lot more to interact with the material the way the programs ask than to just be strong readers. It takes a higher th...

Re: Do I need to order Math Manipulatives for Singapore?
Hi Candice, There is no need to purchase manipulatives with SIngapore Math, especially using the HOD manuals for teaching the lessons. HOD will give you options for manipulatives, and they will always be something you have around the house. For example, you can use cereal pieces, sultanas, marshmall...

Hi Anne,
my response to Nicole was that I use HOD as is, I do not alter the books used as they work together so well. I just have an Oz history read-a-loud book that we do when I think about it and we talk about it afterwards.
HTH,
Corrie
