Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...

Ladies, I am enjoying this dialogue, and so I'll plan to pop-in and out as you all share. My poor hubby and sister have listened endlessly to me as I ponder so many of the options that you are coming up with too! :D So, I'm glad that I'm not alone in my musings. As we're talking, I thought I...

Re: Health update/prayer request NEW UPDATE

I haven't posted in a long while here, but reading your post I feel it VERY necessary to suggest something about your various autoimmune health conditions. Has your MD mentioned anything about Celiac or Gluten Intolerance? Every single issue and symptom you have is directly related to Celiac/Gluten ...

Re: Moving from SL to HOD- a bit nervous

Hi Pam, SL user here...and now HOD LOVER! My 12th grade daughter is finishing up with SL400, after using SL since 6th grade. She has read a lot of books, but hasn't really interacted with them much. And I had to try and schedule ALL the rest of the subjects to make a 'complete' curriculum----...

Re: Catholic newbie with questions!

Sarah, Catholic mom here using HOD! So far using CTC with my son, we have run into nothing anti-Catholic....whatsoever! And looking ahead in the catalog, I'm not seeing anything that could pose a problem. What Religious Ed program are you going to use? We have used mainly Seton Religion over the yea...

Re: We've decided to stay with HOD long-term!

Agreeing too! HOD is hands down the best and most complete and enriching curriculum I have come across in my 11 years now of homeschooling-----and of course my part-time job of researching curriculums for the 'best' one. I too have found The Best here at HOD and am so thankful that Carrie has decide...

... a beautiful field of fragrant wildflowers ... What lovely imagery! You must be a reader of living books - very beautiful - and so true! Thanks for this. Love in Christ, Julie Aww---thanks! :) Yes---pre-reading all those wonderful living books in CtC must be making quite an impression! And I hav...

Re: sonlight vs heart of dakota

Have you used SL or are familiar with it? I used SL before HOD and all I can say is that there is no. comparison. at. all. I was sold on SL's concept and convincing marketing in their catalog, but was sorely disappointed after using two cores. I hate to be so negative about another curriculum provi...

Re: Taking the Plunge!

Are you doing the CtC with your 15 yo? I think that's what I read. If so, I just wanted you to know that my 16 yo is doing it as well (beefed a little and she's moving quickly since she's older) but she LOVES it. It's really great. Nancy My son is 15, almost 16, doing CtC beefed too and LOVING it t...

Re: Question for those with dc on the upper end of age range

I too am wondering about DITHOR working with the Extension books for older kids. The catalog mentions using the Boy or Girl interest books from CtC for DITHOR, so I was wondering if the Extension books cover the genres for DITHOR. I do personally think that HOD is quite advanced, though, so even if ...

Got mine today too! :) Of course, I knew I would since I went ahead and requested one today. Oh well---I will most definitely share one if I get the chance. LOVE it!!! Love the new substitutions policy (genius) and just love the direction HOD is headed. I feel SO blessed to have at least a couple of...

DITHOR question

I was noticing with the new 6/7 book pack that it says you can substitute the Boy/Girl interest options from CtC also. Does this go for any level then? For instance, if I decided to use the Extension books next year for RtR with DITHOR, will they match up with all the genres and work?

Re: CARRIE IS DOING HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

It's great to hear!!...but also really kind of a bummer since my son will have graduated already :( We have used SL since 2005, and it has really been a HUGE disappointment due to the fact that it has 'just' been reading, with no interaction or digging deeper into the materials, connections to life ...
