Re: homeschooling with a newborn
Hi, I have six children, ages 1-11, and once had a 6, 4, 2, and newborn. :) We weren't used HOD then, but I did use Little Hands, Little Hearts, and Bigger Hearts when I had a 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Unfortunately when I had a newborn, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, I errored and left HOD for something else for a short...

Clay (CTC)
Do you have to make new clay each time? or can you store what's left in the refrigerator? We tried to store it and it was really dry. Then he added water and it was too wet.

Re: when to start LHTH?
I used it with my daughter when she was newly 3. It worked very well, but I didn't want to repeat the program the next year. (Personal problem of mine, nothing to do with the program!) My son is now newly 3 and I'm thinking I'd like to hold off until next year. I think it depends on the individual c...

How do you keep track of your more independent students?
My 11 yr. old is using CTC. We are just one week in. I want to be sure to keep up on checking his work. How do you all do this? Do you skim every box and then check everything they did that wasn't just listening/reading? I was thinking of giving him a checklist for the subjects and having him highli...

schedule question
We are using CTC with my 11 yo, Beyond with my 7 and 9 yo, and a different program with my 5 yr. old, plus I have a 3 yr. old and a 1 yr. old.
Could anyone link me to an example schedule for using these programs together? I need a starting point.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Re: How long do you take off after a baby?
I couldn't do two weeks. After my last baby (no. 6), we started again when she was 3 months and it was still tough going for quite awhile. I have started sooner after other births. I would figure at least six weeks and go from there. If they have independent stuff, I would let them go for it.

CTC questions
Hi, Just preparing to begin CTC and I have some questions. What do people usually use for the history research? The intro. mentions a comprehensive history encyclopedia and a Bible dictionary or encyclopedia. I will let my child use internet sometimes but also want him to use books. I would like sug...

Re: Moving to Bigger - concerned about book selections
Does it help to stop and discuss with her? What are you worried about? What do you think might happen? Why does that upset you? What else could happen? etc. I have at times read ahead and said, "I know what is going to happen and it's going to work out okay" or "There is a bit of sad or scary, etc. ...

Re: pondering placement (we are current HOD users)
:D My 3 yr. old is almost finished with LHTH actually. I was thinking of holding off on finishing LHFHG, but I haven't decided yet. We are about half-way through and are finished with the Family Time Bible, which he really looked fwd to everyday. So anyway, I'm not planning too far ahead with these ...

Re: pondering placement (we are current HOD users)
Well, after talking with DH, I've decided to give my 7 yr. old a two week trial in Bigger. He has done wonderfully so far. My oldest also commented that he likes it better having someone doing school with him. I decided to try this for a few reasons. One being that my 7 yr. old tends towards lazines...
