Re: enrolling oldest in public school

Just please be in deep prayer about this issue. Don't make your decision hastily. I would say this is an issue to even fast and pray about. I am not saying you shouldn't do this, because that would be legalism, and I would have no right to do that. But, as the parents, you have every right and autho...

OT - Prayer Request - Homeschool/Marriage Related

I would just like to ask for prayer and godly advice/encouragement from you all tonight. I am just feeling disconnected from my husband, and it has really hit me tonight. He is a wonderful man and great provider for me and my 3 children. I do love him very much, I have just been feeling as if we are...

Re: Bigger Extension Package? Drawn into the Heart of Readi

My 8 year old does Bigger with no extensions plus DITHOR and it is completely enough reading for him. He is a great reader, and loves to read on his own. We go to the library once a week and he gets books there too, of his choice (with my okay :D ). My 10 year old does the extensions and it is a LOT...

Re: Question about Bigger History - Read independently?

Thank you, Carrie. That was helpful. My youngest is only 8, but I think he can read the history pretty well already, and he really seems to want to instead of sitting and listening. It isn't that he can't listen. He does very well, he just doesn't seem to enjoy it as much as I would have hoped. But,...

Re: Slightly OT - I have some habits to break! Can you rela

We are very social as well, but I feel the things we do are also very important for us all as well. What I usually do is that whatever they don't finish before we leave for our outing, they have to do when we get home. It's just the way it is. So, usually if we go somewhere in the afternoon, that is...

Re: New here & to HOD

Sounds like you will LOVE HOD since you love the CM approach to learning and your children are somewhat used to it already. I have used FIAR and like you, I needed more structure. HOD is perfect for me in this respect. Bless you on your new journey here. The ladies are so helpful on this board. A HU...

Re: Question about Bigger History - Read independently?

Should I read through the history assignment first to know if their narration is accurate or not? That is something I will miss personally, is learning all the history on my own! I think I will just read it ahead to myself because I really ENJOY it. :D :D :D We actually tried this today and they did...

Question about Bigger History - Read independently?

I have a question... Would it be okay to go ahead and assign my sons to read their own history portions each day independently and then talk with them each about it individually about their assignments, etc.? I feel like I am continually running out of time to read to them, and they seem to be ready...

DITHOR question

This year my son is using the 4th grade level reading books for DITHOR. If I want him to do DITHOR next year, would I go ahead and get the 5th grade books and the same workbook to use again with it or would he move up to 6th grade workbook? I guess I am just wondering if he can use DITHOR every year...

Re: So frustrated

Great to hear you are doing better! :D :D Just wanted to pass along some wonderful advice that I got last year. I had also taken mine out of school the year before. Someone told me to go really easy the first year out of school, to let my children "deschool" and for us to just begin to bond together...

Re: A little frustrated today...help!

What beautiful women you all are for taking time out of your busy day to encourage me like this just when I need it most. It is a new day and God's grace is new every morning. I am so thankful, and I am in continual process of sanctification, emptying myself of me, so that I can be filled with Jesus...

Question about Book Projects to Send home book

I just realized that there was another book that went with DITHOR, the Book Project book. OOOOPS!! I have not been using that so far. Is it absolutely essential? What kinds of things are included in this? I have 2 sons using DITHOR this year. If I need to order it I will, but if it is not absolutely...

Re: A little frustrated today...help!

Thank you all SO SO much. You don't know what it means to have your comforting words, encouragement and prayers. Today has been one of the lowest, most beaten up, crazy days in a long while, yet God's provision and love has still shown through it all. I am not normally this emotional, even on my wor...
