Re: masking tape issue.
No words to help, but that is why we either go outside and use sidewalk chalk or we use string inside. DH didn't want me to put masking tape on the carpet because he said some stickiness would stay on the fibers and collect dirt so we modify any activity that calls for tape.

Re: MTMM ordering confusion
I actually am having my son do both. Extension for 9th grade, but he also has to read the basic package books for his free time reading. He hasn't minded having both lists at all. He often will finish one of the basic package books over a weekend. Sometimes I squirrel them away so he stays within th...

Re: Unit 14 CTC Science
I don't have my CTC book - a friend is looking at it. But I seem to remember getting worms from a sporting goods store (they sell them for ice fishing.) I can't remember the activity they are needed for, so that might not be any help to you. It's been awhile.

Re: Am I the Only One Who Has.....
My HOD guides are pristine. Seeing huge marks all over the page gives me hives and heart palpitations. Me too! I gasped out loud. I use post-it flags and we move them over when we are done with that day's box to the next day's box. If I make notes for myself they are also on post-its. But...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...
I don't have a lot of time to post, but I wanted to give a shout-out to the DAILY box format. I have used the weekly grid formats in the past and it was at times overwhelming, easy to lump a bunch together, and I HATE flipping back to other pages to get the information/instructions. The daily box fo...

Re: Exploration Education Question (Rev2Rev)
My friend hangs the glider from the ceiling on a hook. Other things go up on a shelf top.

Re: For those supplementing with Explode the Code...
We used them daily and just plugged through. We usually did 2-3 pages each day. My kids all enjoyed doing them so when they got easy it was nothing for them to sit and do 5-6 pages "for fun" LOL! I guess that is why we got through them at the pace we needed to. They were very helpful with all of my ...

Re: Prepping for Rev2Rev's composer study
We used the glue stick for that as well. As for prepping it, I went ahead and printed all the things needed, and we sat and cut them all out while watching a movie one night and put them in labeled envelopes so when it came time to doing the activity, it only required assembling/writing. That saved ...

Re: Question about Beyond
Here is what we did with Beyond: We did just a couple lines of the poem for copy work so we had good quality copywork. Then I photocopied and reduced the poem so it fit into those blank bound hardcover books. I put the poem on the left hand side and then dd illustrated the poem on the right hand sid...

Re: vocabulary index box vs. composition book
We liked the index cards as well. We also used an index card binder. I didn't want a half-used comp book sitting around, and this was just easier and more compact, plus it allowed for better alphabetizing and as a pp said, if they make a mistake they can just grab a new index card.

Re: Buy Books or Use Library??
I would also say to buy them. I used to be able to get a lot of the books at the library, but unfortunately, many of these great books are being discarded by some of our libraries because they are not popular enough. There is twaddle a plenty I can tell you, but the great books are hard to co...

Re: MTMM...catalog
I bought the Evolution book at a convention recently and since DH was driving, I read it all the way home (4 hours) and I LOVED it. I haven't gotten to watch the DVD yet, but I am very impressed with the book. DH said the book could have been half the cost and half the size, but the pictures and eas...

Re: Who uses HOD exactly as written?
We were already well established in a math program when we started HOD several years ago so I never switched to the Singapore math. Other then that, we do it pretty much as written. As for adding anything, I did Explode the Code with the Emerging Readers because it worked with my older kids, so my y...
