Re: Happy Easter!
Happy Easter to your family too! I was going to say "belated" Easter, but is there really any such thing? Easter is relevant every day! It has been a while since I've been on the board, but it is good to come and see familiar names. I hope everyone is doing well in this most unusual time. Blessings!

Re: Balancing Read Alouds
Usually I read one or two kids' stories in the morning during their school time. Sometimes I read another one over lunch. Often I read several after lunch while the kids are folding laundry. Yes, I sit and read while they fold it all!! When time is really tight I might read one at bedtime. I current...

Excited after big order!
I don't post often, but we are faithful long-time HOD users. I just ordered for next year to take advantage of the spring sale. I can't believe that I just ordered high school for our oldest daughter! She started in HOD in 1st grade. I really can't say enough about how rich and deep her education ha...

Sharing our DITHOR project
My son wanted to share his radio drama for The Treasure of Pelican Cove, which he read for DITHOR. It is about 4 minutes long, if you care to listen. The drama is basically our family reading the last scene in the book, with some sound effects. I learned that we are really bad at fake laughing, but ...

Medieval Writing in RTR
Hello! Forgive me if this has been asked, but I can't find an answer when I search. My daughter and I realized today that our RTR guide does not line up with the new Fourth Edition of the Medieval Writing book from IEW. Is there an updated schedule printed somewhere? I couldn't find that either. I'm...

Re: Watercolor Tutorials for CTC
Thank you so very much for this! I have never painted and this helps SO much as we get ready to start CTC this week. My daughter is so excited! I can tell you put a lot of time into preparing the tutorials. We truly appreciate it!

Re: Could I ask for your prayers?
Oh, I might also add that our 2 year old daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the midst of everything. It has been a hard, hard summer here. I know God is good. I so want him to show himself to me.

Could I ask for your prayers?
Hi Ladies. I am feeling desperate. At the beginning of June I got a pain in one of my teeth (no cavities or anything up to this point). The story is long and complicated, but they decided the tooth was cracked and did a root canal. However, I am still in pain and worse than ever. I was even hospital...

Year of Miss Agnes - heads up
Hello all! I just wanted to give a heads up to any adoptive families who are reading The Year of Miss Agnes as we are for Bigger. On page 10 you will find this conversation: "This is Bertha," I said. "Bertha Nickoli. She's really Bertha John, but Jake and Annie adopted her from her real mother, Sall...

How do you combine Storytime??
Hello ladies! I have one dd on Unit 25 of Bigger and one dd on Unit 5 of Beyond. As you can see, we just recently got started with Beyond. I also have 3 younger children coming along (one in LHTH). I've seen mention of a recommendation to combine children for the storytime portion of the guides, but...

Re: Singapore - Multiplication & Other Question
I agree with Patty that coins can really help kids "see/visualize" numbers as groups of smaller numbers, which really helps with mental math. Part of making 10s is being able to visualize 5's. For example, if the problem is 26 + 7, if you can visualize the 6 as 5 and 1, and the 7 as 5 and 2, then yo...

Hi Melissa,
I don't have 2B to look at, so I don't know the intended approach, but maybe if you share how you are approaching 6 + 15 we can help with some suggestions?
Blessings,
Erica

Re: Question about vocabulary in Bigger.
My dd is not memorizing them. To be honest, it didn't even occur to me to have her do so! I figure we can always go back and look through her definitions/sentences/drawings later to review.

Re: Bigger unit 8 day 5 science
We didn't get any either, for either of the electricity experiments. My thought was that maybe the air isn't dry enough yet? We plan to try again later in the winter. Anybody else have a better solution?
