Re: Narrating/comprehension issues
I am not using HOD yet but I have the same concerns . My son is 5 1/2 and I am considering either LH or Beyond for next year .
I own most of the books from both programs but he is not ready for them yet . He has some language delays but academically is advanced ( he reads at 1st gr level , does 1st ...

How well does your child(ren) do on standardized test ?
We are required to test . I was wondering how well the children test for science and history if using HOD? I am not concerned about math and LA as they are doing very well on that. Here before 5th or 6th grade they test on American history/government and after on world history. My kids are not there ...

Does HOD teach literary terms?
...in Bigger and Preparing ( or even older guides ) or only if using DITHOR ?
Mostly interested if it teaches terms like metaphor , hyperbole , types of poetry , etc
I am considering Bigger or Preparing .Still not decided since my son is so advanced in LA and it looks like Bigger would be too easy ...

Re: Need help again !
Thanks ! That helps a little but I am still confused . So this means I will need to purchase three guides ? I could afford ( if I need to ) but isn't it too much work for me to use all three ?
What if I use LH for my 5 and 6 yo and ignore the LA & math section ? We have our own programs anyway . I ...

Need help again !
If academically my ds (6) fits the Beyond chart but emotionally he fits better LH , which one is right? He reads/writes/does math above his age , yet he has comprehension issues and a mild speech delay . The books in Beyond look beyond his comprehension.
Also I have a 5yo who is the same ...

Does anyone use FLL and/or WWE with any of HOD's guides?
I really like FLL for my 1st grader and WWE for my 3rd . With HOD I see there is a lot of dictation , narration , copywork , are FLL or WWE still necessary ?
Just started FLL and it's just what my son needs ! He has a slight speech delay and it seems FLL builds up his language . He loves it too ...

How challenging are the spelling lists & dictation in Bigger
Does someone have a sample spelling lists or dictation from Bigger & Preparing ?
Still trying to figure out the right placement for my 8yo . He reads at about 7-8 gr. level and spells at about 4-5th .Are the dictation and spelling list challenging enough for him ? If not should we still use Bigger ...

Re: Is the US History chronological in Beyond & Bigger?
Another reason I would like Beyond is that it uses American People and Pioneers . I have this book and I would love to start it with my kids next year ( since this year we are still working on MOH 1 ). So there are a lot to think about !

Re: New to HOD , need suggestions
Julie,
Do you know if this would work?
I have Sonlight K and MFW K that I could do with my youngers and Bigger for my older ? This way , I wouldn't have to buy Little hands?

Is the US History chronological in Beyond & Bigger?
Thanks!
Also,
Is Beyond "too young" for an advanced 8 years old? I would use it for History anyway and use the rest for my younger children.
Can't decide if I should go with Bigger or just keep them all in Beyond...

Does HOD have a timeline?
How is it?
Is it a notebook ? Or just suggestions on how to make one?
Does the program include timeline figures like Sonlight or do we have to buy( or make ) them?
Does it include notebooking pages for science and history for the students and where can I see samples of them? Mainly interested in ...
