Trying to promote HOD...
I have been trying to share information about HOD with homeschooling or thinking about homeschooling friends. It seems like they all wonder if it is a complete curriculum and if their children will learn everything they need to learn. I don't understand why people would think it isn't a complete pro...

Re: Trying to get my math plan straight
We will be starting either Singapore or Math Mammoth from the beginning, but not for a while. My son is only going to be starting LHTH. I think MM is an amazing deal if you buy grades 1-6 at once! And then can reuse them for future kids. Outstanding price! I'm planning to do LHTH this year. Then LHF...

Carmen (lovedtodeath)
You mention using HOD activities with MM. Can you easily do that since HOD's activities are written for Singapore?

Re: Tell me about the science?
We are just going to be starting LHTH soon. But I always wanted to do Apologia elementary science too (as well as Mystery of History). I'm thinking I'd still like to squeeze those in somehow (when my kids are older). Mystery of History has a CD, so we could listen to it in the car during the summer....

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Yeah, it doesn't look like the EBs 1A/1B are available anywhere anymore. I am wondering what is the difference between the old versions of the Early Birds and the new version A and B though. The new versions don't seem to have as many lessons but thats all I can really tell while not actually lookin...

Re: Standardized Testing
Nevermind...I fount what you are probably referring to. It seems the CAT does offer a test with other subjects, but you can get it without.

Re: Standardized Testing
Our state requires testing every three years starting in 3rd grade. I choose the CAT test because I can administer it at home, and because it only tests language arts and math. Its unlikely that we will be learning the same topics in science and 'social studies', so I find it more of a hindrance to...

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Oh okay. Thanks for the clarification!
To Everyone:
Do you like the HOD math activities...well enough that you'd suggest purchasing the next guide just in order to have the math activities

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Shimmer - it is my understanding that with LHFHG you can choose to buy EB 2A/2B or Primary 1A/1B. And while in the main part of the guide it has activities for the EB, apparently in the appendix it has the activities for the Primary 1A/1B. So since the next level is in the appendix, the next guide w...

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Makes me wonder if I should hurry up and buy the Early Bird 1A/1B and 2A/2B now before they are not available even from HOD anymore! Hmm....definitely need to look more into this soon! I'm going to want those if they are going to go with the HOD guides. But I guess eventually they will have to updat...

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Ack. To add to the confusion, here is what I see on the Singapore website: Earlybird 1A/1B (out of stock, replaced by standards edition) http://www.singaporemath.com/Earlybird_Kindergarten_Math_1A_US_Edition_p/ebus1a.htm Earlybird 2A/2B (out of stock, replaced by standards edition) http://www.singap...

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
Okay, I found it the early bird level 2. So Shimmer, you skipped early bird level 1 and just went to early bird level 2. I think my son could do some of that, but we may still start with level 1 maybe. I'll have to look into it more. Then when we do LHFHG he should certainly be ready for early bird ...

Re: Math w/ LHTH??
I am confused. On the Singapore website I only see an Early Bird A & B (not an early bird 1A/1B and early bird 2A/2B). And then I see the regular 1A/1B and so on.

So you skipped the 1A and 1B altogether? Went straight to level 2?

Math w/ LHTH??
Does anyone have any ideas for additional math activities I could do with my son with LHTH. He is 4, so I am not necesarily looking for a formal math program right yet, though I don't want to hold him back either as he is interested in "doing math" and in addition, etc. I looked at Singapore K and I...
