Little Hearts Handwriting Question

My dd5 is doing Little Hearts for her K year. What should my expectations be as far as handwriting? She is a really good reader, but writing is harder for her. She can do the work in the workbooks (we're using italics), but outside of that, she doesn't necessarily always form the letters correctly. ...

Re: Devotions in LHFHG

Thanks Beth! That was really helpful! It's good to know from you and Pam that there is a lot of good in this book. I'm not opposed to occasionally having to clarify things with my dd from Scripture as we go through it, I was just concerned, since I had run into a few already and I'm only in week 3, ...

Re: Devotions in LHFHG

Yes, I would agree with you on that. Hmmm...could Carrie or Julie chime in here and shed some light on this book? Why it was chosen? I'm trying to decide if we will keep using it or switch it out with something else (something I love about HOD - so versatile!)

Re: Devotions in LHFHG

Sue, that was the other time my dd and I had to discuss this issue. For those that are wondering where I am taking this from... p. 28 says, "Do you know why we cannot see God? It is because God doesn't want us to see Him yet. God is so great and so wonderful and so bright that if we saw Him, it woul...

Devotions in LHFHG

Hi - We are on week 3 of LHFHG and I have a question about the devotional - Devotions for the Children' s Hour. We're obviously not very far into it, but there have already been 2 or 3 occasions where I felt the devotion was unclear about salvation by grace through faith. For example, today the devo...

Re: Saving LHFHG for first...need advice on K

Nancy - That sounds perfect! I think that's probably what I'll do. It's good to know we wouldn't need two guides every year after a few years. Thanks to the other replies as well! All have been helpful! We did do LHTH this year... Also, before I found out about HOD I bought RightStart Math for K whi...

Saving LHFHG for first...need advice on K

I have been going back in forth in my mind about what to do for my dd's K year. It seems that HOD flows better through 9th grade if LHFHG is saved for first grade. We have LHTH. I read that I could do LHTH with the K options for LHFHG. So, just to be sure I know what I need to buy if I go this route...

Re: Future Geography through History Program

Oh, and one more question - if I didn't stretch out the guides and started and finished LHFHG in K this year and did a guide a year from there, does this mean there will be a problem when we get to the upper years? Will there be a year that I will need to fill on my own in order to "save" the 9th gr...

Re: Future Geography through History Program

This conversation is interesting to me as we will also be starting LHFHG this fall for K. So, if I understand this right, we could do LHFHG 4 days a week and thus stretch out first 3 guides to start Preparing in 4th and to hit the last one in 9th grade? What about math? If I stretch LHFHG for K and ...

wholesome chapter book free reads

Hi! I'm looking for some recommendations for appropriate, wholesome chapter books for me to read aloud to my dd (almost 5) this summer. She LOVED Charlotte's Web and we've read Winne the Pooh and some of the Little House series. I don't want to read something that she'll be reading for HOD in the co...

Re: Unique Scheduling Needs

Thank you for your responses. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with this issue. It was also good to remember another benefit of hsing - my dh can see the kids! I needed to remember family comes first - so thanks ladies!

Unique Scheduling Needs

Hi everyone, Boy, I feel like I have been asking a lot of questions lately! I'm new to hs and new to HOD, so please bear with me as I get this sorted through. :D I have loved looking at the schedules you all have posted. Does anyone have a schedule they wouldn't mind sharing where your dh is ...

Re: Week in Review 5/17 to 5/21

My favorite memory of this week was seeing how LHTH has incorporated itself into my dd's playtimes. She decided to celebrate Christmas during her free play time so *decorated* the living room and then got out her Bible and read the story of Jesus' birth. Then she told me, "Okay, Mommy, pretend you a...
