I've never seen HOD at a convention before and I'm driving all the way to Greenville at the end of the week. So glad you'll be there. Three questions: 1. Are you speaking at any workshops? 2. Will you be selling books at the booth? 3. Will the newest guide be available to look at.
Thanks.

It's here, it's here! I can't tell who packed it but everything looks great and we are so excited to have everything we need now for summer school.

Re: Reading Questions...
Great ideas Julie. I think I'm going to try the "read every day", "do DITHOR every other day" method with my son as well. I will also try your method of easing him into the Student Book. Yesterday I helped him with the vocab exercise where I did the first one and, surprisingly, he did the other two ...

Re: Need help placing ds in DITHOR
This is what I'm planning to do with my ds. He tests very high in vocab and comprehension but his physical writing skills are way behind. I'm planning to use the 2/3 student book with him and the 4/5 readers. I will glance at the 4/5 activities and discussion questions and throw in anything I think ...

Re: Anyone ever go backwards?
She's actually 7.5 and going into 2nd grade. I looked carefully at LHTHG and it just seems a bit young for her. We have been doing Beyond for a couple of weeks and she loves it so I think we'll keep her there. Also, for the past few days my high schooler has stepped in and started working with her 7...

Re: Classical Conversations & HOD - who does both?
I usually don't encourage moms whose oldest child is only four or five to do CC, especially if they have babies and toddlers in tow. It can be a recipe for burnout. However, if they have older children it is a great way to keep on track, keep moving forward and have a sense of accomplishment at the ...

Re: Classical Conversations & HOD - who does both?
Tabitha, I am a Foundations Director in FL for CC and have been for the last three years. Classical Conversations has been a wonderful addition to our homeschool. I have seen the participation done several different ways. Some families choose to use it as the basis for their homeschool curriculum an...

R & S 4 with Preparing and CTC
I understand that Rod & Staff is done half pace in CtC. My plan is to start R&S 4th with my 10 yo now with Preparing. I don't have the manual yet so I don't know if it is done half pace or full pace. Then next year do I move him right into 5 at half pace? I'm a little confused on this.
Thanks

Re: CTC and RTR
Cindy, I think your plan sounds good. CtC and RtR look great for advanced learners like your dd. If you look at the extensions booklist, they are many of the same books used in other 7th and 8th grade curricula. I am in a similar sitution to Water2wine - I ordered CtC for my almost 5th grade son but...

Re: Anyone ever go backwards?
Well I'm not really keen on having to use two manuals (Little and Beyond) for one child. I know myself and I need it to be as "open and go" as possible. It was all the page flipping that drove me crazy when I used Sonlight. The thing I LOVE about HOD is the fact that everything is laid out so nicely...

Re: Anyone ever go backwards?
I guess my thoughts were to continue to do her LA and math separately at her own level and let her sit in on the history and science in Preparing. It will really work better in the long run for us to do Beyond in 2011 when the girls are turning 6 and 8.5. Then my son will be ready for CtC when he is...

Anyone ever go backwards?
I think I'm formulating a new plan for combining my dc. Originally I was going to do three separate books: LHTH with dd 4, Beyond with dd 7, and CTC with ds 10. Now, instead, I'm considering doing Preparing with both the 7 and 10 yo this year and then next year moving back to Beyond with the two you...

Re: Any of you attending the Atlanta convention?
We may be on vacation in the area. Does anyone have a link for the convention. I went to the GHEA website but none of the links worked.
