Hi,
We are in the last legs of Preparing and we are enjoying it so much. We use the music cd to help memorize the scripture and it helps my daughter and is one of her favorite moments during the day.
Hope that helps,
Jess

Re: Not sure how to handle choosing readers
I would second MelinKansas and continue through the list of emerging readers. DITHOR is so much more than a reading program in the fact that is takes the children through higher level thinking skills and I waited with my dd10 until she was in Bigger officially at age 9 before we started. I found the...

Re: Oil Pastels for RTR. . . . .?
I used the set of 12 from Miller Pads and Paper and found that to be sufficient! Enjoy RTR! We enjoyed our year with it! One special thing I love about HOD is that the guides seamlessly flow together with skills gradually increasing in difficulty without too much of a jump from one skill to the othe...

Re: Why are you homeschooling?
May I just give you all a big hug?! This topic is so so timely right now. I find myself saying, yes, yes in agreement to so many of your reasons! I will add mine as well: (not in any particular order) 1. I want to create an environment where there is a 'team' mentality instead of a 'me' mentality. I...

rev2rev times?
Hi, I know Rev2Rev times will parallel most of RTR's, but I am looking for the times for the added/different boxes. Can anyone direct me to where that would be located? I have a dd who likes specifics and I am learning (still after 12 years!), that generalities bring anxiety to her little heart. We ...

Re: RTR Medieval Writing, week 1 question
Sounds great! Enjoy the Writing Lessons, it was probably one of 'my' faves for watching the growth my daughter made this year. And best of all, it spilled over into her free writing.
Blessings,

Re: RTR Medieval Writing, week 1 question
Well, I guess for us, my daughter is such a creative writer that I felt she needed to learn how to write from a source, preparing for future essays in highschool and college. She didn't like having to write from an outline at first, but now she is doing much better. I think it is a combo of the kids...

Re: RTR Medieval Writing, week 1 question
We are just finishing up this guide and have enjoyed the Medieval History Based Writing Lessons. Later on, the kids learn how to choose the most pertinent information from a source. So, Yes, at the beginning, we outlined every sentence and wrote a narrative with each of her outlined sentences. I fel...

Rev to Rev Has Arrived!
Thank-you so much for getting the Rev to Rev guide shipped so quickly. We received our copy at 12:30 this afternoon and it has been so enjoyable paging through it. We will begin in a few weeks and I wish I were in my daughters shoes! I may have to read all her books on the 'sly'. I so appreciate the...

Re: Questions about Write with the Best (CTC) and IEW (RTR).
hi, My first impulse to answering is to continue to us WWB until RTR arrives and then start IEW when you begin RTR. Over the two choices, I liked WWB when we did that and will use it with each of my kids as they go through CTC and I loved IEW in RTR. My oldest dd learned a lot and I have seen growth...

Re: Hello everyone!
Welcome back! We love our journey with HOD. This will be my first year to repeat a guide--I will be doing Preparing with my second dd. I had the books out and got super excited to dive in. We will be starting school in just under two weeks, I am looking forward the routine of things. Have fun!! Jess

Re: Map Trek maps
Well, our maps ended up in the front pocket of the history binder. It became quite messy, but it didn't seem to bother any of us over here, however, I may create a section at the end of the history binder for Rev-Rev. We have a few weeks left to finish in RTR--you will love it!

Re: Time frames for RTR boxes
Hi, I don't know where the recommended time frames are either, but I just used RTR so I can give you our experiences. Bible Quiet time: 10-15min Reading About History, Research, Independent History (done in a block of time): 45-55min Teacher directed boxes (done in a block of time): 30-40min (I trie...

Re: Before HOD, Weekly Lesson Plans, but now what?
My guides become lovingly used as they are the 'planner'. I haven't ever actually written out lesson plans, I try, but just can't follow through. Although, this year, I did purchase a planner to write down what each of my kids was learning that week. (I report to a supervising teacher and it was eas...
