Re: Homeschooling Only One

Hi Pam and welcome to HOD! We are in a very similar situation. We have 2 older kids who both live at home and a 5.5 year we adopted when she was 20 months old. She has MAJOR anxiety issues over leaving mommy as well as changes in scheudule/routine so homeschool seemed like a logical choice for us. E...

Re: should we drop math?

Thanks Julie, I just ordered LHTH on Wednesday so we will start it when it arrives. I'm getting very excited and knowing that I won't be stressing her out over math should help both of us!!

Blessings,
Dawn

Re: should we drop math?

Thanks, I think it would be wise to let that program go for now. I think I will just stop at Walmart and see what kind of workbook they have for the 4 year old set to keep her working on something until I get things figured out. I don't want her to be frustrated so early on in her school career. I'd...

should we drop math?

Hi everyone! This board has been so helpful to me already so I hope you don't mind one more question. My daughter is 5.5 and we are just beginning our homeschool journey this year. We are using Horizon's K math, things started out great but I have noticed that she is not "getting" it right now. She ...

Re: differentiating between b, d, and p

My DD is 5.5 and we are having the same issues. I'm guessing it's just something that comes with time. I'll be watching this thread for suggestions though.

Re: Introduction

Ok, so I just had a chance to look at the LHTH information and it seems like it would be a great addition to what we are doing now, not a replacement.
I guess I know what I'll be ordering soon!

Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

Re: Introduction

Welcome Dawn! I know you said you were looking for something for next year. But, I was wondering if you had considered Little Hands to Heaven for the time being? It is a gentle program and lots fun and memory making time for the little ones. Just a thought! Blessings to you and I hope to talk with ...

Re: Year round school

Wow Julie, that is a great system! I hope to be that organized some day. Right now I'm just using an extra calendar. :D I'm really excited to hear that HOD doesn't follow a strict schedule. I really am looking forward to starting it. I definately will have to wait until I need to start it to place m...

Re: Year round school

Thanks for the suggestions. I think that the thought of being unstructured like you said is sort of what has me worried. Both EmmaLi and I need that in our day or we just sit around doing nothing. I think we will give it a try, if nothing else like you said, a few days a week!!

In Christ,

I am going to have to hold off on ordering them until I absolutely HAVE to because I know it will be ME who won't be able to stay out of them!!!

Year round school

I will not begin HOD until after we fininsh up with this year. I am taking things very slow with my dd and basically just lapbooking each letter of the alphabet with some math/social studies thrown in as well. I figure we will be done with that by April as well as having our states required amount o...

Re: Introduction

Thanks Julie! I feel so at peace right now over all of it! (and that is very unusual for me) :D Now to brag a little! My 17 year product of the PS system was just accepted to Judson University today! Oh my gosh, I have a daughter going to college next year!!! Anyone know of a quick growing m...

Re: Introduction

Thanks again everyone for both the warm welcome and encouraging posts!!! I am now almost 100% convinced this IS the curric for us next year. I'm so excited I want to start now but I know that is not the right thing yet. I spent most of last night trying my best to find a reason not to use it, I have...
