Re: help with placement please!

I think it depends so much on the temperament of the child. I started our 4 1/2 yr old (turns 5 in March so about your dd's age) in LHFHG late fall, with the thought I would go 1/2 speed for awhile until I could evaluate if he were truly ready. He definately was ready and we are going full speed wit...

Re: Question about Explode the Code

We were using ETC, with a little of this and that, but we were not really progressing. Somehow my son was just not transferring it to a book. I do like it, and it would make a good supplement if needed. We are doing The Reading Lesson now and making good progress. I have not felt the need to continu...

Yep, I agree. We did the packing activity awhile back in LHFHG and now Big J is all set to pack his suitcase when we go to grandma's house this spring. He talks about it all the time. I can't wait for the floor scrubbing activity! :D

Re: Week-In Review 11-7-09 to 11-11-09

I wasn't going to report anything this week due to time constraints, but I just had to share this. We were at our big extended family Christmas party today and all of a sudden little J started chanting "B says bhh, B say bhh." LHTH is truly sinking in. :)

Re: I'm borrowing trouble (sibling comparisons)

My guess is your child will probably not even notice, at least not for a long time. Homeschooling is different than a child going to school and being well aware of grades, and what grade everyone is in. My two are only 19 months apart and I will have the same issue. My youngest will repeat LHTH whil...

Re: How to prepare supplies?

I take a quick glance at the next week or so each week before we grocery shop so we can get whatever supplies we don't have. Other than that, I just glance at the lessons the night before to make sure nothing catches me off guard. I usually do not prepare until I am getting ready to do the lesson, t...

CountryMom, I LOVE the art table. Your DH is gifted.
I agree, dh is very gifted. A lot of our furniture was made by him. I always love looking at your blog and I have shown it to dh so he can get a feel for the program. I love the weekly check-in, lets me know what we have in store.

Re: Week in Review 11/30/09 - 12/04/09

Finally dug my camera out. Last week Little J (just turned 3) got to paint a "B." I have to admit I was not looking forward to it and almost opted for the playdough option, but I knew he would love painting so we did it. He did quite well with no major accidents. Of course big brother had to join th...

Re: New to HOD

I think with that age range it would be hard to combine and have a quality program for both. My boys are only 19 months apart, but they are so different, both in temperament and learning abilities, I doubt I will ever combine them. We do reading time every day and I try to just make our daily life a...

Glad to hear it is going well. We started 1/2 speed too, but now that we are in the groove, we are going almost full speed with no problem. It is so nice to have the flexibilty.

That sounds wonderful! I am really looking forward to it, but have a long wait (we are only on LHFHG). I think that price is reasonable and would pay it..

Re: Reintroduction - coming back to HOD

As one who just started my 4 1/2 yr old son in LHFHG a month ago, I think your plan to start Little Hearts in January is good. I also ended another currculum early to start HOD because I could see it was a much better fit. Although Beyond seemed a good fit by looking at the placement chart, I knew t...
