Re: LHFHG looks so fun!

Yes, we are really enjoying LHFHG. This morning we were having our morning family prayer and I prayed that we would play happily together :) and be content. After the prayer big J said, "Mommy, Peter Rabbit was not content and he got into a lot of trouble" (from the Burgess books for storytime). I j...

Re: Early Bird Math or Horizons?

I am not familiar with Horizons, but I am very impressed with Singapore's Earlybird math. Our son started LHFHG early (4 1/2 yrs) and has done very well with it. I really like the way it is laid out and the step progression from hands on to pictures, preparing for eventual abstract. Also the activit...

Re: Bible to use?

Ty countrymom. Which would you reccomend for devotion, I really would like to only purchase one. I have only glanced at the ABC book that a friend has and it seemed nice (we use Big Thoughts for Little People for LHTH). I would not use Devotions for Childrens hour with a younger child. My son is al...

Re: Bible to use?

We are using the Bible picture in Little Eyes for LHTH and the Family Bible for LHFHG. I think if you plan to use it for Little Hearts I would go with the Family Bible. Both are very nice, but there is a little more elaloration in the family Bible. My son loves it, there are many large pictures.

Sounds like you definately made the right decision for your children, and that is what it is all about and why we homeschool. I am glad it is going well for you.

Re: Does LHTH have any "independent" activities?

I really think it will depend on the child. My high maintenance ds turned 3 in November and there is no way I could leave him to work on anything. However, my older ds could have worked on some of the things himself very easily. I guess that is not overly helpful, but an honest summary from ou...

Re: Newbie here with some newbish questions!!

Welcome! It can be confusing at first. On the home page there is a link for the placement charts. There is more than one link and you will want to take a look at both. When you click on a guide from the homepage you can click on the package link and it will show you all of the materials used. Little...

Thanks for the info. I am so excited to go, my first convention. We were planning to move our car Friday because we have to leave Friday evening, so maybe we will just leave it and walk.

Re: Potty training and homeschooling at the same time?

Based on what we successfully did with our two, I would advise taking a few days off. I think it is just too difficult those first few days and for our boys, we really had to just stay to task. I put diapers and pull-ups away, gave lots of liquids and focused on a 3 step progression: 1. put on toile...

Re: Question for you adoptive moms...............

We have two internationally adopted children and also researched domestic adoption. It is a very broad topic, so feel free to pm me with specific questions. I spent hours researching, that is for sure. Holt International and Bethany are two very reputable and Christian agencies. However, there are m...

Re: Weekly Heart of Dakota Check-In?

Yes, all of those wonderful things you see are in the manual. Isn't it great? I am sure everyone tweaks a little here or there or embellishes now and then, and some families add extra curriculum, but the weekly check-in is an excellent example of what we do. I can't even list off all of the things w...
