Standardized test scores-HOD praise
I have seen other posts on this board inquiring how HOD students score on standardized tests...well, we just received dd's scores in the mail yesterday & I have to say I am more than happy! :D DD was so happy, she wanted to frame them! :) (dd has done CTC for 6th grade & RTR for 7th grade) In additi...

Re: How has the Lord showen you what cirriculum to use?
I began homeschooling my dd in 6th grade & had no idea what all was out there. I began an all out search for every subject, trying to piece something together. I felt overwhelmed & scattered! :o I was actually purchasing an item from someone on a used homeschool site & for some reason, she mentioned...

Re: God's Hand In Life's Little Moments
I received this book when I made my first HOD purchase (almost 2 years ago). I read it every morning & love it! I highly recommend it.

Re: This week is just not going well...
Liz, I wish I had advice for you, I am going through the same thing with my 13 yr old dd. :( I know how exhausting it can be & the irritation you feel. I'm glad you posted this because I have been contemplating doing the same. I have read the responses already posted & look forward to reading other ...

Re: New Kid on the Block!
Welcome to HOD! This is our second year homeschooling & using HOD & I love it. I actually strayed from HOD the beginning of this year due mainly to financial reasons, but it wasn't long before I was miserable & wanted to be back in the HOD family. Fortunately, things worked out, we are back, & never...

Re: A little schedule change, and WOW
Julie, Thank you so much for your detailed reply, you really helped me understand how to "work" the older guides. I guess I felt like I was doing my dd a disservice by sitting with her so much, when in reality I was helping her learn the routine of the guide. This is only our second year homeschooli...

Re: A little schedule change, and WOW
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I have been brainstorming all night on how to revamp our day & your suggestion is pretty close to what I was thinking. I will try it today...do you have a time limit for each subject or an overall completion time for the day?
Thanks,
Mindy
Thanks,
Mindy

Re: A little schedule change, and WOW
Hi Julie! Thank you for sharing your schedule, I enjoy seeing how others spend their "school" time. I also have a question....I notice for your ds using RTR, you schedule a block for the teacher instructed subjects. Do you go over the teacher instructed boxes, then have him do the subjects on his ow...

Re: Altering the Teacher Manual physically
This is my second year using HOD & finally bought stick on divider tabs, I believe they are the Avery write on tabs & are strong, but removable. I use them on my HOD & DITHOR Teacher's Manuals. I was using sticky notes & they were not holding up too well. HTH

Viking Quest Series Q & Storytime Praise
Hi Carrie! My dd & I read Mystery of the Silver Coins this year with RTR & loved it! We couldn't wait to read it each day (at least I couldn't!) I noticed the first book in the series was read in PHFHG, which we didn't do (we started w/CTC). I would love for us to read the rest of the books in...

Re: HOD in Pennsylvania!!!!!
You will really enjoy meeting Carrie & Julie. My daughter & I met them at the homeschool book fair in Arlington, TX last year, which is a 3 hour drive for us also. They are both so sweet, helpful, and easy to talk to. I look forward to seeing them again this year....I have a lot of questions for the...

Sue, I read your post yesterday & my heart goes out to you. I could feel your pain and despair in your words & I immediately said a prayer for you & your family. I cannot quit thinking about your post & I know it is God placing you on my heart to continually pray for you. I pray you are also comfort...
