8th Grade RL Humor Suggestions?
Hi! I'm looking for some (appropriate) humor genre suggestions for my 13yo son at an approximate 8th grade reading level. Most of the suggestions I have found have inappropriate topics or bad language. Any suggestions? TIA!

Re: HOD Bloggers
This is our family blog, but since beginning homeschool I've started blogging about that too. You can find it here: http://thebeazhive.blogspot.com/ All of the homeschool posts are tagged with "Busy Beaz Academy". Great idea, Daisy! I'm in the process of compliling all the blogs & sites I love too t...

Re: Week in Review 9-10-09
I'm only 5 days late, but here is the link to our blog: http://thebeazhive.blogspot.com/2009/09 ... weeks.html I forgot about taking pictures as the kids were doing stuff, so I'm going to do better with that this week. I love seeing how everyone else is doing!

Re: Difficult First Day, Anyone???
Not only did our first day go bad last week, our entire WEEK was a disaster. Yes, we got some work done, but it was only 1 1/2 days worth of plans in 5 days!!! :o I spent weeks working on a schedule for it to fall apart in a matter of hours. I was feeling guilty about not sending my kids to ps (over...

Re: Feeling Guilty
Thank you so much ladies! Your words have been such an encouragement to me. I managed to pull myself together yesterday, and do some of what they would have done at ps. Rules, schedules, overview of curriculum, etc. I kept thinking I needed ALL my materials, but realized after reading Julie's post, ...

Feeling Guilty
It's the first day of ps, and I feel overwhelmingly guilty. I've sort of felt guilty ever since we decided to keep them home this year, but today its more. I keep wanting to pack them up and race to the school before it's too late! I wanted to start HOD last week to sort of avoid this feeling to som...

Re: my3sons, a question about your schedule!
I haven't posted my schedule yet because until I get my books I won't know for sure if this will work. Plus, I planned to not do school on Fridays due to storytime at the library, but can see that with Bigger, I really need to. So it needs some tweaking. Besides, I don't really know how to post it!!...

Re: Help Choosing b/t BLHFHG & BHFHG
I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but here's what I did. I used the program placement chart in my catalog (i'm sure there's one online, too though) that lists the different subjects & what's covered in each subject. You choose which one best describes your child, and then pick the pro...

Re: Which program are you using this year and when do you start?
Well, this will be our first full year of HS (did about 1/2 yr. back in K & PK), and our first time with HOD. I'm ordering everything on Friday, so depending how long it takes to get here, we will start on August 10th or 17th, so I have some time to plan. I love to plan! We will be doing Bigger for ...

Re: Scheduling Questions
Thank you Julie! I really appreciate this, it was very helpful. I love to plan stuff out, although I'm not so good at following through. That's why we picked HOD for our first real year of homeschooling. I appreciate your encouragement!!

Scheduling Questions
I can't make my order until DH gets paid next week :( , but I will be using BHFHG & DITHOR, with different LA and Math programs for ds9 & dd7.5. I'm planning on using workboxes, so I'm trying to set up schedule strips and such, but have a couple questions. I also have dd3.5 & ds 1.5, so I need to kn...
