Dictation level corresponds to grade level?
I just wanted to check real quick if the Dictation level typically corresponds to the same grade level ie Dictation level 2 with 2nd grade, level 3 with 3rd grade, etc. I know you can do it at whatever pace, but wanted to see if there was a correlation. Also, does dictation stay in the guides the wh...

Re: Tip for Copywork Help
What a great idea! My dd in Bigger has to copy Bible verses fairly often and I have been writing them down on another sheet of paper for her to copy from. This would save ME some time and I bet she'll love copying from the Bible instead. You always have the best tips!

Re: Dictation formatting question
Thank you. That answers my follow up question of if the line breaks in the dictation passage mattered either. Indentations will be the only spacing concern I check for then. Thanks!

Dictation formatting question
Sometimes there will be large spaces between the words at the bottom of the dictation piece. For example, todays was: Ben does not run or jump. He is too lame. bump hump lump dump _____ pump (I had to add the underline so the formatting of this editor wouldn't push the words together.) Is it wrong i...

Re: Thinking about the future.....
Wow, my youngest would graduate in May 2029. How fabulous would that be to be homeschooling until then with HOD! I absolutely love HOD and the security of knowing my children are getting a quality education thanks to HOD's hard work. I am fortunate to have found HOD at almost the beginning for us it...

Re: when to start LHTH?
I really like it at 3 for learning the letter sounds. I also really like it at 5 for the Bible applications. My kids are getting it twice at those ages because of the way my kids are spaced out and it works great. Another good option is doing it at 4 and just going slowly and then doing LHFHG slowly...

looking for a homeEc curr for 2nd grader
We're doing a co-op on Fridays and looking to add in something else "fun" that day. My 2nd grader wants to learn some basic sewing, baking, homeEc skills. I can do those things well, but would really like to not have to plan anything else! I'm looking for a simple curriculum or book to use as a basi...

Could you share the recipe? We're doing a rotation on Jacob in Sunday School next month and I was thinking about doing a cooking lesson. This gives me ideas.

Questions on Bigger Poetry
Have a few questions about poetry in Bigger. Trying to figure out how it's different from how we did it in Beyond. Does anyone keep a poetry binder with Bigger? In Beyond, I kept a binder with sleeves for her illustrations and copywork for each poem. It doesn't seem necessary if you don't use it as ...

Re: Question about Beyond
I think we started with 2 lines per day at the beginning of the year. I had wanted to do an entire stanza at a time too, but she just wasn't ready for it at 6-almost-7. So you don't have to finish the poems. Just do the lines you do well. I'd make her copy them again if she started writing sloppy. S...

Do you cover your manual?
My Beyond manual is looking a little tattered after this year and it needs to last for another 3 kids. :) Do you cover your manual with clear contact paper or anything else? If so, can you give me detailed instructions and preferrably pictures? LOL... I am a neat freak with books. I don't write in t...

DITHOR - it was a GREAT day at our Mystery Cafe!
I love all the genre kick-off ideas in DITHOR. I was totally excited about doing a mystery lunch when I read the idea. This has to be the coolest thing we've done yet! The idea is for them to "order" items for each course without knowing what food they'll get. Too fun! I dressed up in costume. I had...
