Re: Hello and question about Story of Ancient World

Thanks so much to those that responded (if any of you are still watching the board). It is really a blessing to be able to ask a question and have others respond who are familiar with the materials. I guess I was still hoping there would be a book out there that does the same job of telling the stor...

Art and Artist Study

Hello! I am new here and have a question. I am using Beyond with my 6yo dd and am planning for next year. I love the CM method and look forward to doing the artist/composer studies with her. Is there any of this kind of study in HOD, and, if so, which guide introduces it?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Book Projects and DITHOR

Thanks for the detailed responses! I understand much better, now. I have 2 littles that I want to make sure I pay enough attention to next school year. I think this looks great, but a bit overwhelming for us. Can I take it very slowly, maybe just 2 or 3 this year? Is that worth it?

Book Projects and DITHOR

Hi! I haven't actually used anything yet, just looking and planning for next year. I am looking over BHFHG and DITHOR. What are the Book Projects (optional book) compared to DITHOR. I know they seem more like hands on crafts. What is the purpose compared to DITHOR? I have ds9, ds7, dd4 and ds2. I am...

Re: For those who have done Beyond or Bigger or both...

Thank you for your responses! I have checked the placement chart, but still felt unsure. This has been very helpful! I will look at those links and see what I can find. I'm also curious about the grammar instruction in Beyond. How much and how explicit? Do they learn the grammar terms, or just gain ...

For those who have done Beyond or Bigger or both...

Hi everyone! When I looked at the first week samples for each program they seemed to teach the same things, but Beyond had a more active and playful approach, while Bigger seemed to do more "telling" to the child. Is this approach consistent through both programs (Beyond-more play oriented and Bigge...

Re: How To Handle Heavy/Violent Content With A Young One

My almost 9yo son is also very sensitive particularly to the word "blood" in Bible stories and otherwise. As a matter of fact he coined the word "blah-blah" to replace it. This has made for some quite humorous family devotion times. He was also sensitive in other ways, too. On Sunday, we were listen...

Like Beyond and Bigger's Titles: Combine?

Hi! I'm new to this board and am considering which curriculum to choose. I have a 7yo ds, soon to be 9yo ds, 4yo dd and 2yo dd. I love the books from both of these curriculums. My 7yo could go up to Bigger or my 8.75yo could come down to Beyond. Has anyone had this dilemma? What did you do/ do you s...
