Re: Major Placement help
Ok. Good question. Here it goes. I think. This is what I'm saying I think that they'll fit into for next year. DD who is in 5th grade now. 11 years old. Fits into Res to Ref. although she hasn't had much practice with dictation. DD who is 9 and in 3rd grade. Fits into Bigger. But in terms of reading...

Major Placement help
This might sound a bit jumbled but I'm hoping someone might have some insight. My oldest dd will be in 6th grade next year. She did LHFHG for K, Beyond for 1st, we did something different for 2nd and then Bigger for 3rd. We have done something different for 4th and now currently for 5th. I'm trying ...

Dictation or Spelling lists for Bigger??
I just started looking through the Bigger guide today. The instructions for the spelling/dictation portion say to choose ONE of those choices. How do you decide which to pick? Does anyone do both? Can you do spelling one week and dictation the next? It seemed to me after reading a bit that you shoul...

Re: Thinking about returning to HOD..tons of questions??
Thank you all for the responses. Yes, my dd's do fit squarely into the guides I'm planning to use. I have to decide if I want to do K math with my first grader or move her into 1st grade math??? She does ok with math but often gets numbers mixed up and can't identify numbers to 40 unless they're in ...

Thinking about returning to HOD..tons of questions??
For two years in a row I used LHFHG and BLHFHG and then this school year (2011/2012) switched b/c I was worried about running 2 guides with having my younger dd start in K. Next year I'll have a 3rd grader (8 turning 9 in October), a first grader (6 turning 7 in December) and a dd starting K. Last n...

Re: LHFHG 2 years in a row?
Thanks for the responses. I think I'll leave the storytime for next year then and just do some fun read-alouds from the appendix.
I'll look into LHTH also!

LHFHG 2 years in a row?
My dd has just started LHFHG this past week. I was hoping to combine her and my next dd this time next year so that they are working from the same guide. Do you think I could do LHFHG and skip science and History and portions of bible time and just focus on math, reading, handwriting K and Do it Car...

Re: 2 guides? Do 1 at at time?
Thanks for all the input. I wasn't sure that approach would be best but wanted to consider it. Starting 2 guides at once just feels so much different than only running 1 guide but I know it's possible especially with HOD!!

Re: 2 guides? Do 1 at at time?
No 2 different guides. My dd is in beyond and I've just started my other dd with LHFHG this week.
I was just thinking maybe they would get more personal attention that way. Oh I don't know. I'm not sure this is even making sense to me... Maybe my brain is foggy...

2 guides? Do 1 at at time?
Has anyone ever done 1 guide with a child then completely finished that guide and then started a guide with the other child? Like do "school" with one, finish and then start "school" with the other? I know it's much more time consuming but I'm wondering if it has it's benefits too? Just thinking out...

2 guides? LHFHG and Beyond schedule?
I'm about to start my dd in K and I have my other dd currently in Beyond. I'm a little nervous to start running 2 guides at once. How do you mama's schedule 2 guides? For history do you read aloud for both? Just combine and not read aloud for both? Any thoughts, experience and suggestions are very m...

LHFHG half speed question?
I know there are several threads about doing LHFHG at half speed but I wondered if it can be done 3 days a week and do it for a year and a half that way? Instead of doing right side, left side, etc. My dd is in preschool 2 mornings a week and I hadn't planned on starting until next fall but she's re...
