Help on "outline sketch"!
Hi, all!
I start CTC next week and was just looking over the guide and I'm drawing a blank on what an "outline sketch" would be? It's listed as an assignment in the Storytime box. I think I'm probably over complicating it...
Is it just a basic outline of the book?
Thanks,
Mary

CTC Science Question
Hi, ladies! We are gearing up to start CTC next month and I haven't purchased the guide yet but had a question. I know we will use Land Animals for some of the science. Do any of you think it's worth it to purchase a separate lab kit? I'm not sure how many of the experiments in the book you would ac...

We love Preparing!
My dd9 is finishing up Preparing and all I can say is WOW! We have done HOD since K, and I can see a definite progression in skill and learning for all of my children. I have to admit that Bigger was a tough year for us because it was so teacher intensive, but now I see why! It was worth every secon...

Re: Book suggestions
Thanks, Julie. We have done Bigger but didn't do the Extension pack so I will take a look at those. We are planning to stick with HOD all the way through so I guess we will get to more fun books in the future. :D Too bad there aren't more books like these! I find myself wanting to sit and read them ...

Book suggestions
Hi, ladies! My dd and I have really enjoyed the read alouds in Preparing this year. I was wondering if anyone else has found any other books that she could possibly read on her own that would be similar to Tirzah or Fountain of Life. From some searching I see that the author of Tirzah also wrote a b...

Re: it's just not coming together -- help!
So sorry you're struggling. I can't give you moment to moment, but I can tell you to give yourself some grace. A 3 month old means you JUST HAD A BABY! It's completely okay to go slow and do what you can do right now. The fact that you are getting anything done is great! For practical, start with yo...

Re: Adventure read-alouds --King Of The Wind is Too Hard
We are in Sword in the Tree right now and my dd9 can't help but listen when I am reading it to my ds6. The both love it! We also found King of the Wind way too hard.

Question for Carrie about Preparing
We are on week 5 of Preparing and I am running into some problems and wanted to get your feedback. Our family, like yours, supports the young earth philosophy. I have been really excited about the beginning of Preparing and how we are dating everything. However, since we have arrived at Ancient Egyp...

We love Preparing!
Just wanted to share that this is our first year going through Preparing and I am LOVING it! I have shown some other people our schedule and they comment that there is SO MUCH History. However, I think Carrie has found just the right mix of fun and learning! There is such a great combination of hand...

Re: How do you present poetry copywork to your Beyond kids?
My ds 6 has TERRIBLE handwriting (or at least I think it is compared to my perfectionists dd8! :D )! I copy each line of the poem in a wide ruled notebook and he writes it underneath mine. If there is a particular letter he is having trouble with, I will write those in a highlighter on a separate li...

Preparing Daily Assignments
Just wanted to share what I made for my dd who will be starting Preparing in a week. Between her and ds (starting Beyond), I got a lot of questions like "Am I done yet?" or "What else do I have to do?". I made this to let them mark off the assignments each day using clothespins. I have it in the ord...

Re: Am I set for Preparing?
I'm starting Preparing this month and that sounds a lot like what I have. So I think you are all set! Once you get started, I'm sure you will figure it out pretty quickly if you aren't!
