Re: O/T: QUICK lunch ideas???
This isn't a meal idea but it's related. I buy the crock pot plastic liners and freeze meals in them. Then I thaw it in the fridge over night and put in the crock pot in the morning. One tip I'd like to share ( I found out the hard way) potatoes turn black when they are frozen, then thawed, so any r...

That's great news! My Aunt has fibromyalgia, and has done exceptionally well with the medications. I pray you will have the same good results.

Re: Help! How do you organize your books?
I'm jealous, you have bookcases! I store our books in banker's boxes. I organize them by type ( earth science etc), then by age group (k-3, 3-5). This works well for us. You could put a small label on each book shelf detailing what belongs there ( ex. earth Science K-2).I have a list of every book I...

Re: Would my plan work for my children?
I'm doing Beyond with my 10 yr old, it's working out really well. If he wants "more" science, I just let him read library books. It's really a great introduction year to US history and Charlotte Mason skills. I hope you have a great school year.

Re: Balancing outside time with school
We do school in the mornings, if we don't then we tend to get busy doing other things and never get back to our school work. My kids have a loose schedule, breakfast, pick up house, school until about 11:30. Then, it's quick pick up, lunch and outside play time. I encourage them to look at the plant...

Re: Just one question
The textbooks by Christian Liberty Press are fantastic. I love their history & science books. They are supplemented with hands on activities. They are not dry or boring. They read more like story books. My son came out of public school last year and he adores HOD ( we are finishing Beyond).

Re: Question about possible ADHD daughter........
Hi Christy, The public school wanted to diagnose my son as add/adhd. I refused to let him be tested. I don't like labeling children, with my son's personality he'd use it as a crutch for the rest of his life. The two main things that have made a huge change in my son's behavior is diet and routine. ...

CLE is Christian Light Education. CQLA is Christian Quality Language Arts. You can google them to get the websites. I use R&S at grade level. My son will be 11 doing Bigger this year.

Re: Testing and HOD....
In my state (NC), we only have to test for Language Arts and Math. I only test at all because my state requires it after age 7. I think when you are with your kids all day you know if they are "getting it" or not. As to well meaning friends and family, you could make up a report card every term for ...

Re: So many BINDERS!
I used binders this year and by half-way through the year, they were very heavy. This year I am putting individual subjects in 3 prong folders. I got a ton of them free from Staples last year. I am keeping them in a magazine holder. Dictation is going to be a one subject notebook. Latin this year is...
