Re: When will your new year begin?

We are finishing Beyond, we should be done the 1st week of September. We had serious illness this spring and that put us way behind schedule. :( We didn't do any school for a month and then started back only doing half time. The children don't know yet but the 2nd week of September we are going on va...

Re: Beyond as a 4 day schedule

We are doing Beyond 4 days a week. We take Fridays off since that's the day our play group meets. I do day 4 & 5 work on Thursday. The readings are easy enough to add a few pages. My son does do Math on Friday but it's Teaching Textbooks, so I only help him out if he gets stuck...he also does math o...

Re: question about Bigger book sets

Kathleen and Julie, Thank you ladies! I thought the file box would work better but we put everything into binders,so I was considering it. It's a very good point about being able to alphabetize while using the file boxes. They just went on my list! I'm going to take the plunge and get DITHOR. My hus...

Re: Going through LHTH 2x

Val,
I'm about to be in the same boat you are in! I'm planning to do Christian Liberty Press pre-k this winter with my (will be) 3 yr old. Then do the 2nd year of Little Hands. It's cheapest at Rainbow Resource. I don't want to do the same program..no mater how great it is...two years in a row.

Re: question about Bigger book sets

Julie, Wow, you made me want to buy it.It sounds great and better than what we are doing now .Which is check out books that he's interested in from the library, then he tells me what he liked or didn't like about the book. The program does sound good...it even sounds fun! and would help us to pick o...

Re: question about Bigger book sets

My dh is a good guy. We had a really rough 3 years and were not financially stable, things are much better now...knock on wood. Still being cautious about spending right now.I gave up a lot of things I used to do to save money, and now that we are doing better my hubby wants to make it up to me. Wit...

Re: question about Bigger book sets

Geo, Well, I guess I needed reassurance that ordering 54 books for one school year wasn't completely nuts! My son is so excited to start Bigger,he's told his friends about this "really cool school work Mom found." We aren't using DITHOR This year, I'm with you we are easing into it. The Bigger plans...

question about Bigger book sets

Hi Ladies! I searched the boards and couldn't find the answer to my question so here goes. My 10 yr old ( 5th grade) son will be starting Bigger this fall. He loves to read. We are doing Beyond now and he's reading aloud the emerging readers ( so I can correct pronunciations), the boy interest for s...

Re: Like Beyond and Bigger's Titles: Combine?

I have my 10 yr old in Beyond, and he's having a great time. The books aren't "babyish" so it doesn't bother him that it's really for 7 yr olds lol We use the emerging readers as out loud reading ( by my son) so I can correct his pronunciations. Then we use the deluxe readers for our formal reading....

Re: Has anyone used Bigger with a 4th or 5th grader?

My 10 yr old 4th grader placed in Preparing, but I already had all but two of the books for Beyond, so that's what we are doing now. He loves it! It's a lighter schedule than Preparing. I just added some pre-made notebooking pages to it.This gives him an outlet for drawing and adds more writing .I h...

Re: singapore grammar and math ?

Julie,
Thanks for the advice and encouragement. It looks like I will be adding Singapore to my book order! I have R&S 2...maybe he just isn't ready for it right now.

We are loving Beyond...it's fabulous. When the child begs to do more school, I know I've hit on a good thing!
Thanks again,
Kim

Re: Timeline for Beyond

Kyle, That sounds like a good plan. Younger kids aren't as neat. I don't have timeline figures, I let my son draw them. I'm drooling over homeschool in the woods, but my dh would flip if I said that I wanted them...at $75. I'm jealous...iIwanted to do Ancients this year and I was outvoted!...

Re: WHAT SINGAPORE DO I ORDER?

The guide schedules 1a & 1b, but there is an alternate schedule in the back of the book for 2a & 2b. If you buy 1a &b you only need the work books. If you buy 2a & b you need text books & work books. You need the answer key also, unless you don't mind doing without it, it's cheap. If you go to singa...
