Grammar to use independently?
I am trying to figure out how to make HOD as independent as possible. We are using MUS and TT for math. I have used Rod and Staff 2 and 3 with my 11 yo. I went with Serl's Language Lessons for this year, and I don't feel like she has really learned much grammar at all :? . I did not feel like Rod an...

Can children work independently?
Hi Ladies, I haven't written in a while. It has been a rough year for me. One of the worst :( . But, things are looking up, praise be to our Creator! He gives beauty for ashes. I tried to do MFW ECC this year with my children. It felt way too heavy. We got through North America, and will likely work...

Re: Disappointed with Singapore's introduction to long division
Although they were simple, the "bundles" that are used to illustrate in the Singapore textbook made total sense to my son as we went through long division this year. First, we looked at how many hundreds he could give to each "person"....then we broke up the remaining hundred bundle(s), along with ...

Disappointed with Singapore's introduction to long division
Singapore 3A P. 57 starts to explain long division. It doesn't give very much explanation on how to do long division. Should I stay with MUS, so we get the WHY of it? I don't like that Singapore doesn't give a reason for why you do it the way it is done. Do I need the HIG? Will that help me explain ...

Does Singapore teach the fact families?
If so, is it introduced in 1A?
Thanks!

OT: Child who wants to become a teacher?
My dd has expressed an interest in becoming a teacher when she is older.
How would you encourage a child who has that desire?
Would you want them to be a teacher?
Just trying to figure out how to address it, and wondering what other homeschooler's thoughts are on it.
Thanks!

I don't know what it is. It seems like it just doesn't "stick". Does that make sense?

9 yo boy struggling with math...help!
My son will be 9 tomorrow. He is still having trouble with simple math problems such as 12-5, or even 1+3. He has done some of Singapore EarlyBird and I started him in Singapore 1A a while back, but stopped. I don't know what to use with him. He is left-handed, so I don't know if that has anything t...

Re: Questions about Bigger
I am sure Carrie and/or Julie will pop in with an answer. I know they are extremely busy right now with conventions!
I am glad to hear you are going to be giving HOD a try! I am still not sure what we are going to go with, but, I will be deciding hopefully in the next few days!

Julie, would you share your chore charts?
Hi Julie,
Could you provide a link to your chore charts? Also, is there anyway you could send me a download to fill in?
Thanks so much!
