Quetion about Beyond History
The American Pioneers and Patriots book...how much does it cover? I was able to preview the Stories of the Pilgrims one at our conference, but I forgot to look a this one more closely and wondered if it took us all the way up through the Revolutionary War or not. TIA!

Re: Question on where to go next? 4 yr old ready for LHFHG?
i think a 4 yo could definitely do LHFHG at half speed, depending on the child's interest level and personality. i am using it with my kindgergartener and my 3 yo was doing LHTH in the fall. after a few weeks of that, she just started doing LHFHG with us and she loved it. however, i do my own math a...

History reading progression in Beyond
i was curious...in the guide for beyond, is the history scheduled in such a way that you are reading the books from beginning to end, or does it jump around to different stories within a book (i.e. pgs monday pgs 34-36, Tuesday pgs 86-89)? in little hearts in the history stories for children, we jum...

Re: I hate to even ask this
another thought: my kids are the same age spread as yours...next year they will be 6, 4, and 2. i have decided to combine the oldest two (except doing right sides obviously) because my middle child can listen to history lessons, etc. and retain almost better than her older sister. i figure i'll reev...

Re: Reading Made Easy vs. Abeka
Hello! We are using LHFHG and using Abeka as the phonics program. i have not used RME, so i can't speak to that at all. i knew i want a solid, tried and true phonics program to teach my daughter to read and i felt like Abeka provided us that. you are right that abeka is laid out well, and easy to te...

Re: I'm not sure why I'm writing...
at first glance, being new to HOD myself and not knowing much about your kids besides what you just shared, i would think you could at least combine your 6 1/2 year old and 8 1/2 year old in Beyond. they may have to do different "right sides", but it sounds like they could do the same left sides if ...

my decision!
okay, i'm sure those of you who helped me with my earlier "combining" post have been losing sleep.  but, i did want to pipe in and tell you what i decided. :) i have decided to keep my 6 year old moving ahead as she is. she will start Beyond next fall and i will start LHFHG with my 4 yea...

Re: Considering HOD - Beyond or Bigger
I'm assuming you are asking for an honest response to "what do you NOT like about HOD?" I really thought hard about this, as i do not want you to get a bunch of moms saying, "It's perfect!" because that would seem unrealistic to you. First and foremost, I truly love this curriculum. We use Little He...

Re: can i start a thread about food?
Hi Ladies! To save money (and time), I do a lot of prep over a day or two once a month and then enjoy pulling our dinners (and often lunches) out of the freezer for the next few weeks. The food never tastes like the freezer and I add a salad, other fresh veggies or fruit to the meals each evening. ...

Re: video for 18 month old
I have loved loved LOVED the Baby Praise videos. My little girl is just about to turn 20 months and this is one video I have put on for her. My favorite is Born to Worship . They are kind of like Baby Einstein except set to worship music then they'll show kids playing, smiling, flowers, ABCs, 123s,...

video for 18 month old
okay, i'm as anti-television as the next cm homeschooler. BUT, if i could just get 20 min the morning, my life would be SO much easier! i just need her to be still for 15 or 20 min, and Elmo does not engage her. i remember that being the first video my older kids watched for a few min. Does anyone h...
