Re: Going BACK a guide?

Florence, here are some of the particulars on his placement issues: 1. Writing is a BIG issue. He still has great difficulty writing out his narrations, copying passages, etc. He can dictate his narrations to me and often I will copy them out and have him copy that. Make sense? Just recently I have ...

Going BACK a guide?

Most of you know the struggles I have had this year with my ds9 (almost 10 now). Behavior issues, mood issues, etc. led us to hospitalize him in January and he is now on medication and we are making progress with him. School is still difficult, but getting better. We started him this year in Prepari...

Re: Help!! Maybe HOD isn't going to fit our family!!

Hi Katrina...just wanted to pop in here and tell you how happy I am that you were finally able to choose and especially that you feel at peace about it. :D I read and replied to your post in the other forum and I know we had some PMs going back and forth as well. I've been praying for you and had ho...

My turn to ask for scheduling help!

School started out organized and well-planned. Then Christmas came, we had issues with ds9's behavior which required hospitalization, therapy, lots of appts., etc. and we were out of the "groove" for over a month. Dh has been working from home and I have been, well, lazy. Only way to put it. ...

Science in RtR

We have decided to use RtR next year (skipping CtC since we have covered Ancients recently and my boys place best into RtR). I will have ds11 (5th) and ds12 (7th) using this. Will I need to "beef up" the science at all for ds12? I don't think he is ready for the upper level Apologia series. Too much...

Re: CARRIE IS DOING HIGH SCHOOL!!!!

I am very excited about this news! Thank you, Carrie! My dd14 is using another curriculum for high school right now and it is a good fit for her. My boys, however, would not do well with it. HOD is a much, much better fit for them. Much. If I could only convince my ds12 to stay home for high school....

Re: Rev. to Rev. email!

Thank you, April! I am now drooling. Next year we do RTR and then Rev to Rev. I am so disappointed my ds12 (7th gr) will be going to public high school and missing out on this incredible guide! Hoping he will at least listen in on the Storytime books.

Re: Making school more enjoyable...

Anger at everything and everyone. That about sums it up for ds12. He has his positive moment but they are few and far btwn. It isn't about school. I know that. It is about rebellion and anger and hard-heartedness and so many other things I can't even put my finger on. I am floundering. No disc...

Making school more enjoyable...

I am not sure how to title this thread but I guess this just about sums it up. How can I make school more enjoyable? Most of you know about our struggles from my previous posts (ds9 in mental facility b/c of rage issues, other children angry/resentful, rebellious, etc.). Ds9 is doing much, much bett...

Re: Need help planning next year...please!

Carrie, thanks for chiming in! :D I can say without a shadow of a doubt that ds11 is capable of the independent work required in RtR. He does most of Preparing independently already. :D Ds12 is "capable" of the independent work, but much prefers to have my involvement. If pushed, he can do the work ...

Re: Tubs or Bins for separating & storing program & DITHR books

I wish I knew how to share a photo! I will try to explain what I do. We are doing 2 guides. In a fabric bin (purchased at Target) on the top shelf or our 5 shelf built-in bookshelf I keep all books for the Preparing Guide that we are not currently using. On the next shelf, in a small toy bin (roughl...

Re: Need help planning next year...please!

Thanks Julie! :D You are right that I do not know what will happen in the future! I've learned that I can plan but God often has other plans. I did some more thinking/praying last night and thought of another option. Move ds11 and ds12 into RtR and skip CtC. Not b/c I want to skip any of the ...

Need help planning next year...please!

A brief background: I will be homeschooling 7 again next year (10th, 8th, 6th, 4th/5th, 2nd, 1st and 3yo PreK). This year my 9th grader did MFW Ancients, 4th, 5th and 7th graders did Preparing and 1st, Ker did LHFHG. Although, I must admit, LHFHG is not getting done in its entirety. I'm lucky some d...
