Re: Does anyone here use HOD for a "gifted" child? 2nd thoughts

Thank you all for easing my fears.

I wonder, is is "easy" to add things to HOD. Such as lapbooking, Evan Moore's History Pockets, etc?

I really like a schedule, but with the flexibility to be able to add things beased on her needs if I choose.

Thanks again :D

Re: Does anyone here use HOD for a "gifted" child? 2nd thoughts

Thank you!! This is exactly what I needed to hear!!

Especially the narration parts. She loves to be able to retell things, and talk, talk talk. I want her to be able to THINK, not just rote memorization of something, KWIM???

Whew, I feel better now, thank you!!

Does anyone here use HOD for a "gifted" child? 2nd thoughts

I am having second thoughts about HOD. I don't want to have second thoughts!!!!!!!!!!! My 10 yo is a very advanced reader. She is also an excellent writer currently working on writing her first YA novel. She will balk if anything looks "babyish" to her. I need something that is going to make her "th...

Re: I have yet MORE question about HOD/DITHOR

That's great news, Cindy! :D We're almost done with PHFHG, and what a super year it has been - I can't wait for you to start. I agree with everything Lee Ann said already. My HOD manuals (I'm using 3) stay open laying flat for the duration of school each day - works great. I use sticky notes for th...

Re: I have yet MORE question about HOD

Lots of questions... Here's a few answers for you... :D HOD uses a lay flat binding, you open the manual to the page you are on and press down on the center of the book to make it lay flat. The manuals hold up well. The schedule for the extension books is in the appendix. We read some of the extens...

I have yet MORE question about HOD

Since I have definately decided on HOD Preparing for my 11 yo daughter, I have been thinking of question I still wanted to ask(I am a huge information seeker as you will see!!) I went to look at the pictures from the convention, and noticed that all the books, except for CTC, are not spiral bound. A...
