Re: Help! I'm drowning in Bigger!!!
That is a good idea about the cardstock- thanks! He turns 9 in February. I think Beyond would be good for him except he loves Bigger science- I suppose I could drop back to Beyond and add in a science book to keep his interest. It's nice to hear of someone else having done Beyond with a third grader...

Re: Help! I'm drowning in Bigger!!!
The unlined paper I'm referring to is for notebooking when the guide says something like "on a piece of unlined paper, write the bible verse at the top and then draw such and such..." I actually printed out the science notebooking pages found online that have wide ruled type lines for the verse at t...

Re: Help! I'm drowning in Bigger!!!
Thank you all for your helpful replies! He is actually not doing either the cursive or the poem copywork right now. What we are struggling with is copying the bible memory verse, the bible verse for science, the vocabulary words and definitions and the written work for the history/science notebookin...

Help! I'm drowning in Bigger!!!
We are three weeks into Bigger with my 8yo ds- 3rd grade. (I am also doing CTC and half-speed LHGHG for the other kids) My son is a struggling reader- he has come far, but it is something we are still working on. He also struggles (more than I realized) with his writing. During his copy work, he oft...

Re: Need some encouragement!
Thank you so much for the encouragement, ladies! I started organizing the school room and getting everything organized for Bigger & CTC today. Just doing that made me feel so much better. Thanks again!

Re: Lesson Planning help
Debra Bell's Ultimate Homeschool Planner for moms is an awesome planner! It has room for up to six students and six subjects in the weekly section with spaces for notes, supplies, and appointments for the week. Hope this helps!

Need some encouragement!
Hi! I could really use some encouragement as we get ready to start another school year. I have five kids 15,11,8,5,2 and am expecting #6 at the end of September/ beginning of October. I have been planning in using CTC with my 11yo dd(6th) and Bigger with my 8yo ds, along with LHFHG half speed with m...

Re: Science for 7th grader using ctc?
I would go ahead with the scheduled CTC science, give it several weeks at least, and then decide if you need to supplement. The Apologia elementary series was written for Grades K-6, but that is assuming that the parent is reading to the student. Having the student read it independently, IMO, raises...

Suggestions for a globe?
Our movers broke our globe during our last move. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced globe that they have enjoyed or has worked well to go with HOD? Thanks!

Re: Can you help me place my 11yo?
Well, I decided to do CTC with her after all. I decided that the skills she will be learning in CTC are more important than where we are in history. Plus, she will be learning much more biblical history with CTC than we did this year. Thanks for your help. This board is great!

Re: Reading help
Thanks for your input! Yes, we does pretty well with copy work. I decided to go ahead and order Bigger, including Rod and Staff English 2 for him. I feel really good about doing all of Bigger with him- it will be a great year for him I think! I think I will do the emerging readers with him the next ...

Reading help
Hi! I am planning on putting my ds8 in Bigger. He fits there on the placement chart. However, he has struggled with reading. We are technically just about done with phonics instruction, but he is going to need a lot of reinforcement and reading practice. I was planning on doing Rod and Staff Reading...

Oh, I didn't realize the extensions had some written narrations included. That would give her what she needs I think. Thanks!!!

Re: Can you help me place my 11yo?
Thanks for your replies. She places in RtR for Reading and Grammar. She is not there in writing yet, though. She really does fit in CTC. Preparing would be enjoyable and fairly easy for her (which is appealing to me with a baby due in the fall), but I want to make sure she grows next year, especiall...

Can you help me place my 11yo?
We are returning to HOD and I have aleady figured out placemat for my other kids. My question is about my 11yo dd who will be in 6th grade. Looking at the placement chart, she fits in CTC. However, we did ancients this year, so I would prefer not to do it again. Should I put her in Preparing with ex...
