Re: English handbook
I didn't realize R&S had a handbook. I use CLE and I saw their handbook and thought I'd try to find one on Paperbackswap, but they didn't have one so that's why I decided to ask around about others. Someone recommended Harbrace's Handbook and I was able to find it on paperback swap. I assume one is ...

English handbook
Hello... I'm trying to find a simple reference book on the english language. Something with the rules for spelling and writing would be nice. I don't want to 'read' the book, I would just like to use it as a reference when I'm not sure where to put the coma or when to use I and me...bad example...I ...

Re: Pictures of my School Room
Oh my I love love love your room. (I have hardwood floors too, so I hardly noticed yours until all the comments...then I went back to take a look and I agree, they're great!) We have a hs room but I mostly just store our hs stuff in it. We always end up doing school in the kitchen or living room. I ...

Re: Not sure where this belongs..
Thanks everyone for replying...I need to clarify. The guide didn't specify a larger sheet of paper, but after reading the assignment I thought it would probably take a larger sheet to get all the drawings/diagrams to fit. I enjoy seeing what others have done and I appreciate everyone sharing.

Idea for keeping memory verses
A lady in my homeschool group shared her idea of using those little $1 photo albums (from the dollar store) to keep up with daily assignments, chores, or memory verses. This is a great idea for keeping up with HOD's memory verses. Just slide the index card into the photo album and the child can look...

Not sure where this belongs..
...so I posted it here and on the Bigger board. I will be doing Bigger in the fall and was looking thru my schedule and noticed that some of the Science notebooking (unit 4 day 2, drawing and labeling invertebrates) will require a little larger sheet than you'd have in a typical notebook (not sure a...

What kind of Notebooks to use for History and Science
I will be doing Bigger in the fall and was looking thru my schedule and noticed that some of the Science notebooking (unit 4 day 2, drawing and labeling invertebrates) will require a little larger sheet than you'd have in a typical notebook (not sure about History haven't got that far yet). SO I was...

Re: DITTHOR/not understanding the reading schedule
OHHH! I thought it meant you did that particular genre in 5-15 days. If I understand correctly, you have the option of using 1-3 books under the same genre. Makes sense now! Thank you both!!

DITTHOR/not understanding the reading schedule
I'm reading the CM Companion and she talks about really becoming involved in the book your reading and it made me think that maybe I should implement this program instead of just having my ds read. So as I was looking at the sample for the student book level 4/5 I noticed that there are three option...

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading
Thanks, I was kind of going back and forth with that decision. It's hard to know what to do until I actually "see" the program at work. It's good to know the literature will be covered well without DITHR. I think we'll have plenty to keep us busy, if not I'll definitly add DITHR

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading
Thanks for the input. I think I will take it slow. I'm still not certain how this is all going to run :? Once I get into a good grove I'll see if we need to add more. I mainly wanted to be sure he was reading and comprehending. Maybe I'll have more money in the fall and I can add the DITTHR then, bu...

Re: Anyone planning on using Hearts and Bigger?
I'm doing Bigger with my 2nd and 4th grade boys and I'm adding the Extension pack but I haven't decided if I'm going to use it as read alouds for all of us or independant readers for my 4th grader or both. I'm sorry I'm no help...I'm still trying to figure this all out myself
