Re: Copyright question (and record keeping for right/left sides)

Kathleen recommended the same thing to me when we started this year...we are working out of 2 books. I do go a step further and put my lesson plan out for the week on an excel spread sheet to include any items I may need for the week (ie chocolate cips, crayons, etc). For me it is nice to sit down o...

Re: RME workbook...should I get it?

We have enjoyed the RME workbooks...other than the copy page. My son really doesn't like writing, but he loves the other pages if the workbooks.

Re: can we brainstorm activites for 15 mo?

My daughter is a little older, but she loves to color too (at home, in the car, at the store--LOVES to color). I have found pi-squeak markers that are washable and a God-send for us. They clean up easily and are short and chubby--just right for little hands. Also food is a big distractor for us. Foo...

Re: Memory Verses stick with you

We have been using the ABC devotion for 4 years with our 6 yr old son...we started using HOD this year (and we are loving it...) I can't wait until my DD is talking more and we can start using it with her. Every day I see her speech delay improving and know that time is closer and closer. one of our...

Re: Little Hearts History and Science are *perfect*

We are only on the first Burgess book, but my DS loves them...since we didn't do HOD last year we ordered the Finding the Answers book and are doing this as well as the First Grade Thinking Skills...he likes both of them as well. So far we are having a really great year. Once we finish our phonics p...

Re: Got Little Hearts today!

SOunds like you are doing what we are doing. I really wanted to do the history portion of Little Hearts, but my young 1st grader was finishing phonics and ready for Beyond Math, etc...we've been doing it for 3 weeks now and it is working well. Sticky noted work grade to keep your spot in each box!! ...

Re: Starting LHFHG on Monday, and a little nervous!!

If you do 4 days/week instead of 5 it will take you 40 weeks to complete instead of 32 weeks. We started LHFHG 2 weeks ago (using the 1st grade option) and we are really enjoying it. I think you will really like it. We are doing it 5 days/week, but that can always change. Enjoy!! Kirstin Hi, I am st...

Re: READING/LANGUAGE ARTS

We are using RME; so far so good. My son (who is ALL BOY) really enjoys it. We also ordered the workbook the author just came out with. We were originally going to use Explode the Code as a supplement, but I have decided to go with the RME Worksheets.

Re: How many lessons/wk do you do in Reading Made Easy?

We used Saxon Phonics K last year, so I jumped in at lesson 12 (I think)...so far it has all been review so we are currently doing 5 lessons a week...I probably should have gone a little farther back in the book, but wanted to make sure he got the concept of how she codes. It has easily been review ...

Rebecca-
I can sympathize with you. I struggle with the same thing. So far we are hanging with 5 days/week (after starting last week), but I know once things come our way we will have to vary here and there. I am preparing myself... :)

Re: any ideas for time allotments for each block?

I got a spreadsheet from another HOD...it's buried in my email and I'm blanking on who specifically (but a big thanks). Here is what she put for times regarding LHFHG. We are starting next week, so not sure if these times are completely accurate...and I'm sure they can very from child to child...but...

Re: How do you start your school day?

Lora Beth- I had to laugh at starting your day with potty time  We are potty training the youngest...and I would love it if this is what we started our day we...instead I get "I don't want to potty" in her own language of course...the girl can hold it until the full light shows "overflowing"......

How do you start your school day?

Just curious how you start your school day. Do you open in prayer? Do you say the pledge of allegiance? There are 2 things we will include. Is there anything else you all do to get your day started? Thanks!!

If I was to venture a guess I might think she used an excel spreadsheet and made her own and filled in the info pertaining to each person.
