Re: Canadian's using HOD

Hi everyone, We are Canadian and have used HOD for several years now. Unfortunately there are no similar programs using Canadian Content. I took a year off, couple years back to cover Canadian History by using a variety of resources including the CBC videos, Story of Canada (which is kind of dry), M...

Re: Some WG woes

Just an update. We (well actually my daughter) decided to stick with World Geography. I gave her the option of going back a guide or two but in the end she wanted to persist and work hard to get WG done this year. I think the prospect of starting a new program mid-year didn't sit well with her so we...

Re: Some WG woes

Thanks Carrie and Nealewill! So encouraging to get feedback. I'm so glad you suggested the idea to go back to Rev to Rev. We've been thinking that too and that is what we are going to do! It avoids us having gaps in history and I think she will really enjoy it. About the grades, yes, I hate thinking...

Re: Some WG woes

Thanks everyone it's so nice to get input. Yes, I do believe that some adjusting has to be done in the higher grades to the workload required and sometime subjects just aren't "fun" anymore. I've had to have that talk with her. I guess my only big concern is she's actually a pretty bright student, s...

Some WG woes

Hi, My daughter has successfully used Bigger, CTC, RTR, then took a year off for Canadian History and returned to do the new WG. She seemed to love all the other programs but seems to be struggling with this one. I think it's that the topic of geography has not really "grabbed" her but perhaps it wa...

Re: Would switching math programs set us back?

If I were you and you were happy with Math U See, I would just continue it. We have used HOD for a few years now and use Math U See right along with it which works just fine.

Re: Math Facts

We have had trouble getting our one daughter to learn her math facts. She also is easily distractable and has some minor learning delays (memory issues). We've tried Flashmaster, Math U See skip counting songs, Math stories (can't remember the name which is recommended for kids having trouble) and t...

Re: We got an early start.......

Hi,
I noticed you use a timer for math lessons. How much time do you set for your daughter at that age? Are there any other subjects you've found a timer useful for?

Thanks,
Shannon, (thinking this might be a good strategy )

Time allotment for MMTM?

I'm looking for the typical time it takes to do the MMTM program each day. I've scanned the MMTM page but can't seem to find it. Can anyone direct me to the right place?

Thanks,
Shannon

Re: New Geo sneak peek?

How do I access that? I just signed up yesterday for the Sneak Peek e-mails. Would they send me it now or do I have to wait?

Thanks,

Any discounts for ordering an extra teacher's manual?

Hi Carrie,

Just wondering if you have ever considered offering some sort of discount if we order an extra teacher's manual for another child in our family who will be using the same program? I think it would be great for each child to have their own manual.

Thanks,
Shannon

DITHOR help

I have been lousy at following through with DITHOR the one year I used it. My biggest struggle was not having read the books my daughter did. Then when we looked for connections from scripture or character, while she usually did okay with it, I struggled to "come up with the right answers" especiall...

Rev to Rev or MMTM?

My 14 year old has done Bigger, CTC, RTR and then took a year off for Canadian History. Now I'm in a quandry as to where to place her. Skills-wise she could easily do MMTM or probably even even the New Geography guide, however does she miss out alot not doing Rev to Rev? I'm really torn.... And if s...
