Re: Combining 5 & 7 year old...

My youngest dd just turned 5 Monday, and my oldest will be 7 at the end of next month. So, they both fit (age) in LHFHG. Carrie, I love our public library, and will add extra reading for science where needed. If we use the 2nd grade science book this year, is there a suggested extension for Beyond t...

Re: Combining 5 & 7 year old...

Thanks! This helps, I guess I just needed other moms to say "go for it, it works" WigglesMom, do you think the science is too light, even with the added book for 2nd graders? My understanding is that it has additional projects/experiments for the older kids to do. My dd7 LOVES science, but she's rea...

Combining 5 & 7 year old...

We started using HOD last week, so far I love it...but it's taking us pretty much all day. I got LHFHG for my 5 yr old (this is her "Kindergarten" year), BHFHG and DITHOR for my 7 year old ("2nd grader"). I think academically, those are the right programs for them, but my 7 yr dd wants to do everyth...

Thanks to you all!! I've been trying to decide which phonics program to use for a while. Now I know what I'm going to do. You have all been very helpful!

Happy Homeschooling! :D

Re: the reading lesson and ETC

When you use ETC online do you use anything with it? Or is it a complete program by itself?

Re: Considering homeschooling..........have a question

Hey, Christy! Welcom to Texas, and hopefully, to homeschooling! I'm like you, not wanting my kids to be too busy. I prefer that they have a few meaningful friendships, where we know the entire family! :) We are involved in a homeschool group. In the fall, we went to co-op, which was a fun way to lea...

Re: the reading lesson and ETC

Thanks so much! I didn't realize there was an online version of ETC, I'll have to check that out. My dd is doing LHTH now, so I might go ahead and get the first Get Ready For The Code book, to see how she does with it. The past few weeks she has really been wanting to learn to write, and to read. So...

the reading lesson and ETC

I'm trying to decide which phonics program to use for my dd next year. (she will be 5 this summer) I'm considering Explode The Code with The Reading Lesson. Has anyone used both of these? Would you recommend combining the two, or do you think this will be too much? I started with BJU for my oldest d...

Singapore???

My 6yr old dd will be using Bigger next year, we have used BJU for K and 1st. We will continue to use BJU English and writing, but are switching to Carrie's recommendations for everything else. Dd has excelled in BJU math so far, she missed only one problem on the Singapore 1A test (she was in a hur...
