Adventure book for storytime

Ok, so we started Snow Treasure for our Adventure book. My boys are 7 and 9. I'm thinking it's too advanced for my 7 year old and maybe even my 9 year old?
Who has read this book with their children and how was it? Ages of kids? Did they like it?

Thanks!

slow...and how it is going so far

We are moving pretty slow with HOD. We started school on Sept 10th and just now finished Unit 3 (mostly). I am liking the poetry and I think the kids kinda like it. They don't like the artistic expression (drawing what they think the poem means). I love the Bible verses and Bible study portion and I...

Re: How to incorporate Canadian history, etc.

Just revisiting this thread once more as I need to order some Canadian history materials. I have to check out the links posted too (thanks Wigglesmom!).

Anyone ever used "Courage and Conquest" by Donna Ward?

Re: How to incorporate Canadian history, etc.

Something we used this past year for Cdn. History was the CBC People's History of Canada videos. Might be a little for the older ages but really good dramatizations of Canadian History! I wish there was an American Equivalent. Shannon (Edmonton) My dh watched this series years ago when it first cam...

Re: How to incorporate Canadian history, etc.

Thanks for the tips, gals. I will look into those books, Carol. They sound good. I like the idea of reading the corresponding time frame of Canadian history each day.

How to incorporate Canadian history, etc.

We live in Manitoba, Canada and are very excited to be starting HOD in the fall. I am American, so I love the American history focus and have no problem teaching it to my kids. I do, however, want them to learn equally about the history of Canada, since this is where they live and well, they are hal...

Re: Anyone order outside the US?

I live in Canada too and have yet to order. I'm curious to know if you end up paying GST and PST.
I know it will be duty free as my dh is a customs broker and he advised me of this, but he seems to think taxes have to be paid.

Thanks for the replies, gals! Still in the process of trying to place the kids in the right level. I'm 90% sure that we'll go with HOD at this point. I'm excited!

New to HOD

I'm very interested in this curriculum. I want something that is planned out for me and I love everything that HOD includes in the daily lessons. I have a 9 year old and a 7 year old (both boys) and I haven't decided quite yet which level to start with them. I also have an almost 3 year old son and ...
