R&S 2- Can some be done orally?
I have been having my 2nd grader do all the written work in R&S 2 Grammar. She is understanding the concepts very well, but the writing seem very laborious. I want her to do all the writing, but she starts to get very sloppy about halfway through. Is this something I should keep pushing her through ...

Cheerful Cursive over 2 years?
I am trying to condense Beyond into a 4 day a week program. My daughter will be in second grade doing Beyond left side, with her younger brother, and Bigger right side. Since cursive is either taught is 2nd or 3rd grade and my daughter will be in 2nd, I was wondering if Cheerful Cursive would still ...

Re: Reading Made Easy?
The list at the back of RME is some extra digraphs and blends that RME doesn't cover. The author suggets moving on to Learning Language Arts Through Literature Red book to learn the other phonics rules. I am considering using Phonics Pathways or The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading with ...

Re: sonlight vs heart of dakota
I have used 5 cores from SL. What ages are your dc? I have used both pre-k cores, 1,2, and 7. I loved SL, when I only had one dc :? (my oldest dd is 9 years older than my 2nd dc). My main concern and something you should ask is- How is all the reading aloud going to be handled as far as class manage...

Reading Made Easy?
Do the Reading Made Easy CD's work on Mac's? Do you need to use any other readers along with RME or is RME easy all you need as far as reading before you start The Emerging Reader Se t? Maybe a better way to word the question; does RME have reading practice built into the book? What do you think abo...

Re: Singapore math - a few ??s about HOD's approach
I choose to use SP this year because the lessons were short! Carrie's reasons behind why her lessons are designed to be short is what won me over. I have tried several other math programs in the past and the time intense lessons were burning out my dc. Many times a curriculum will try to get dc to l...

Did Cheerful Cursive help improve handwriting?
My dd will be starting Cheerful Cursive next year. She is 7 (will be 8 in October) and has some minor focusing issues that, hopefully, was corrected when she got glass at the beginning of this school year. I think, since she has had problems seeing, it has had an impact on keeping her letters on the...

Re: Auditory Learner help!
I have 2 dd's who are very much like the girl you describe. One dd is 16 and attends SC Governor's School of Arts and Humanities for voice (opera). This school is a free, merit based public boarding school for the extremely gifted in SC. I'm telling you this to let you know that even if the child st...

Should you correct you dc's "free" writing?
I was wondering if compositions your dc did that was not part of school should be corrected? I know CM didn't want a dc to start visualizing incorrect spelling and grammar and you are to erase any spelling mistakes immediately so a dc doesn't get it fixed in their head. So what do you do when a 7yo ...

Wagon Wheels Question
I had the book Wagon Wheels from when my oldest dd was in 2nd grade (9 years ago!). It looks the same and is by the same company, but the page numbers don't match up. How many chapter are in the Wagon Wheels that come with the ER set? Mine has only 4 chapters. Does the newer version have only 4 chap...

Emerging Reader Struggle
My dd, who just turned 7 in October, is starting to struggle with the Emerging Reader set. She has already completed 2 phonics programs. She got glasses about 2 months ago and I saw great improvement with the glasses. She read the Early Readers Bible instead of the Beginner's Bible . It started off ...
