Re: Beyond poetry copywork

My daughter did Beyond last year. She usually copied only one stanza of the poem; at least 4 lines. I helped her choose a part that was meaningful to her and would also be easy to illustrate on day 5. I hope that helps. :)

Re: Rod & Staff worksheets?

As far as I can tell, the worksheets aren't written into the guides (I currently have only LHTH through Preparing). I DO use the worksheets for extra practice with my son. He loves worksheet days! We're doing R&S 3 right now and I plan to use the worksheets again for R&S 4. I find that the worksheet...

Re: Experiment in Bigger Week 25, Day 3 - HELP!

We did this experiment today and I'm not sure we did it right or completely understood what was to be done. We cut out the foil fish about 5" long, taped it to a quarter, then taped it all to the bottom of a shallow glass pan. My son had to back up about 20 feet before he couldn't see it anymore. Th...

Re: Science Experiments...

There are lots of fun activities for LHFHG science! There are two days for science in each unit and they tie in with the history for that day, too. Here are some examples that my children enjoyed when we went through LHFHG: Unit 2, Day 4 - History is about Noah and the flood. For science you read ab...

Re: Question about the science and history books for BLHFHG

I am currently going through Beyond with my daughter, who just turned 7. The history stories are meant to be read aloud to the student each day. My daughter has been able to read some of it on her own, but I have done most of the reading. I believe that the science is also intended to be read aloud,...

Re: Sign Language for Bible Verses

I bought a couple books a few years ago that I have found helpful. Signing for Kids by Mickey Flodin has a lot of signs common to daily usage, plus a chapter about religious signs. Carson-Dellosa has a series of books called "Signing God's Word". The one I have is called Jesus Loves Me! and it illus...

We love Pagoo!

Just wanted to say how much we are all enjoying "Pagoo"! I'm seriously thinking about getting the other books written by Holling C. Holling. Has anyone read the others? What did you think of them?

Looking for ideas for Spelling

Good morning! I'm looking for a little advice today. My 8 year-old ds is using Bigger right now. We have finished the first level of dictation and he has repeatedly expressed a desire to do "regular spelling". Dictation has not been his favorite thing, though I can see how it has helped him with his...

Thank you for the replies! I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one wondering about this! :D I ended up having my dd read a poem about Creation from a Rod & Staff Phonics Reader. Carrie, where is that poem in "Stories of the Pilgrims"? I have the older version that lines up with the guide (I thin...

Help! I'm confused about Unit 20, Day 1 Geography...

The geography activity for unit 20, day 1 says to "read aloud today's poem, "God's Creation". Did I miss something? I have no what this is talking about. "God's Creation" is not the poem for this unit, so where am I supposed to find it? Please help!

Thanks,
Heidi

Re: Physical Drill...help?

I'm interested in reading all the replies to your question. I also need some ideas for getting my kids (and myself) more active. My ds9 has very little interest in anything active! He will read all day if I let him, which isn't bad, but he has no stamina when it comes to physical activity. Just the ...

Re: Singapore Primary Math Home Instructor's Guide???

I think that the Math Exploration activities in LHFHG are meant to go with the Earlybird Kindergarten Mathematics 1B and 2B. If you are using Primary Level 1A & B, the ME activities will not match up. In the Math Alternate Schedule for using 1A & 1B, I believe that the Textbooks are used instead of ...

Re: Does anyone use BJU English in place of R&S?

We just finished using BJU English for 2nd grade. My son really enjoyed it, and I did too. I think that the grammar instruction is good, with lessons that are easily understandable. The chapters alternate between grammar and writing. I didn't think that he would like the writing part, but he did. I ...
