I haven't heard of anyone trying this, and I think it'd take quite a while to match up your MUS teaching with Singapore's lessons, but always doable if you have the time and energy.

CTC or RTR not so independently?
If you are using CTC or RTR not exactly as written, maybe you are looping subjects, or combining to fold in siblings, I'd love to hear what is working for you. I've decided some changes are in order for us right now, plus I'm planning our next history/science cycle.
Thank you.

Re: So Discouraged
Maybe you can rotate some subjects instead of doing them every day. Your kids are really young, and it does take quite awhile to get those basics down. I have 3, that are two years apart and are now 11, 9, and 7. None of my kiddos have been accelerated at learning to read...so I was having to read i...

Re: How much help do others give their dc with writing?
Yeah, what you said is going on here with my 11 year old ds too. His writing is okay, slightly improving. Most of the time on his schoolwork I will accept less sentences, but more quality work. I think he's improved a little. He just cares nothing about it. My son will one day be a successful wonder...

Re: Math Woes-Need Advice
I think it's a common problem to experience. I went through I think 7 math programs before settling on MUS. I finally figured out that some things just take time...like math facts. I kept thinking it was the program that was the problem...but I just didn't have confidence in the teaching part...now ...

Re: Anyone combining younger ones in CTC or RTR?
Next year they will be 12, 10, and 8, and yes, their skills are all way different on the math and english subjects. I don't want to work out of 3 different guides. We do our own math and spelling already, and I could do the Rod and Staff with my middle and older one. Darn, I know what I want, there ...

Re: Anyone combining younger ones in CTC or RTR?
Heidi, are the more mature contented books the history read alouds, or are you talking about the actual history curriculum?

Re: Anyone combining younger ones in CTC or RTR?
Thanks Anne. Do you read all of the science out loud on Friday's? How long would you say the history readings are? Do you skip some of the other activities to have time to combine? I still cannot come up with a good solution for what I am wanting. Thanks for any advice, I'm glad it's working out wel...

Anyone combining younger ones in CTC or RTR?
My oldest is doing CTC and it's going fairly well, however, I miss that togetherness we experienced when we were doing the same history. We combined with Beyond and then I broke them up into their own programs. Now that I've finished several weeks of CTC, I'm starting to miss them being all together...

Re: How do you do watercolor anyway?
Well, we did it wrong, and I had no idea until 20 seconds ago .
I'm literal too, and since it didn't say start with water...we didn't. However, it did work out okay once we went back and started adding water to it.

Re: Hero Tales in Preparing
Is this the book that had a couple missionaries somewhere in Africa and they were about ready to get their heads lobbed off? I'm trying to remember which book I had in my head...
So the whole book is covered?
Thank you,

Hero Tales in Preparing
Could someone please share with me how this is used. Is every story read? Are the stories broken up into short sections to be read aloud, or is it independent reading? I'm considering preparing for next year and I've owned and sold Hero Tales before. I felt like it was too dry and covered some prett...

Will RTR offer optional reading selections?
I was just glancing at the RTR info, and saw that there is only a History read aloud package. Will there be boy and girl packages available, like the options in CTC?
